Season 65 (85)

fr Blackwhite >> الثلاثاء أفريل 12 - 07:20

The victory came at the end of the match but especially after the injury of my best midfielder. Will I have won or drawn with him, impossible to know because Seaburn has a good team

I had already been eliminated in the Cup when my best striker was injured. It's the game, I don't have good players to deal with injuries

@Alex - sorry to scotch the rumours but the finances are not the train wreck of last season. I am still very much in profit for this season and the wage bill is over £2.5m less per week than it was at its insane peak of last season. I have promised the accounting team we won't do that again and made a charitable donation to a mental health charity which supported them through the dark days of red numbers.

A question for you all:

At the moment I'm 3 points ahead of the 3rd placed team in my Euro group with one match to go. I'm likely to lose mine, he's likely to win his, which will put us both on 9 points. I lost 2-1 away to his team, but won 1-0 at home, making the aggregate 2-2, but I have an away goal. Does this mean I am already through or not?

I genuinely have no idea - the tiebreaker of results between us includes a factor for away goals or not?

BakerMan - here's the list of tiebreaker factors:

  • Points
  • Head to head results (points, goal difference, goals scored)
  • Goal difference
  • Goals scored
  • Number of away goals

Based on your scenario it looks like it will go to goal difference or goals scored.

I read them too - it doesn't say away goals vs opponent, but that does count in two leg ties. Probably being hopeful as if it comes to the others I'm in trouble.

The way i read it,you are equal so it will go to goal difference. Therefore i reckon you need a draw. Good luck.

I may never know. We both lost so I'm through!

This of course just means I will get my arse kicked in the round of 16 by one of the group winners, but still, I qualified!

I look at my team and I'm hit with the stark realisation that it's a reflection of a poor transfer strategy these past few seasons, where I was focused more on a high league position rather than planning for the future.

Match revenue will only provide enough funds for 1 or 2 players, so a clearout is planned for the next window but I have too many older players, who will only fetch a fraction of their so-called 'market value', and my U21 squad has been neglected to the point where only a few will sell for more than peanuts.

One thing is for sure: it will be a few seasons before my players need their passports again!

That's probably a fair reflection of the game @Lee.

Those who play 'normally' and chase league position often do so at the expense of slowing down future progress. Most of the clubs in the lower divisions seem to be stuck in that kind of cycle.

What does 'planning for the future' look like at your club?

Numpty - Rather than buying the finished article at 28 - 30, watch them slowly decline and then have to replace them, I need to buy younger players who, over a few seasons, will eventually reach their potential.

It means taking a step back in terms of squad strength, knowing better days are ahead. Not having to delve into the transfer market every window will also mean a healthier bank balance I can use to freshen up the U21s.

It's very likely I will be relegated during this transformation phase but I'm hardly setting the first division on fire at the moment anyway.

CL draw means I don't have to worry about rotating my squad. A repeat of last year and I assume a repeat of the result too :(

Ouch - harsh draw Stephen. My draw has been fairly kind, but its the hope that kills you (I should know I've been hoping to win the league for the last 50 seasons!)

Cardiff, LGA and I have a chance, but we could easily all go out at this point
