European Super League (80)
These 12 founder clubs come from only 7 European cities. That's a real concentration of top level european football.
There's always a case to make money/more money, but it's the love of money that is the root of all evil (Chaucer) and the guaranteed finances for the 12 reek of that. Even if Leicester qualified for and won the ECL they'd still "earn" less than a founder team that went out at the initial league phase. That can't be right.
Given the outrage, this probably won't go through, but it does show the intent of the big clubs' owners. In the end, money always gets its way.
The future? Try non-league football. The quality isn't as high, but it is more exciting and when I go, if I don't get goals, goalmouth scrambles, at least a couple of fights and a bellyful of laughs then I haven't got value for money. And it's far cheaper than premier league prices. Give it a go, you might be surprised...
@Monk - Chaucer may have used that quote but he got it from the Bible. :)
Some of my most fun times watching football were at a now defunct German club call Göttingen 05. Sadly, it folded shortly after my time there.
@monk - Numpty is right. He was there when Chaucer was writing those stories after all.
Lol, you'd have thought a monk would know that :D
Any team that participates in this competition should be removed from their domestic league.

Thank you and I apologise for my ignorance. Never read the bible. I hear it's very good though. Daoist monk, not a Christian one.
If they don't want to play in UEFA tournaments then them need to disqualify from domestic league? It doesn't make sense. It's disgusting behaviour.
I am strongly against it. Even Champions League did a lot of bad for European football, freezing certain clubs to top spots in several leagues because they got to money pot.
And why AC Milan?? Just because they won something on 90's? We had many clubs later in euro finals like Sevilla(they have won some too!), Fulham, Braga, Ajax, Benfica etc. Sevilla and Benfica would fit also as they have another strong enough city rival to bring in as there are many clubs chosen from possible derby cities. Fulham is from London too and West Ham, who will beat some of selected clubs this season- in case if someone will say that this season they are performing well. How many seasons ago Milan qualified to CL at all? There must be more than 3 clubs regularly finishing before them, why not they? Milan might be one of richest clubs but they have been mostly some retirement home for aging former stars who are finishing their career.
Another contra:on last decade we have heard lot of excuses that top club superstars can't perform on World Cup and European Championship so well as they are tired at intensive season after so many CL matches, so there are other players shining on NT competitions. So will those clubs resign from domestic leagues as more clubs will play more matches than they could have in CL or EL where they had maybe some easier matches not expected to be in new Super League?
And renewed lists of honours of La Liga and Serie A:

Umm...at least has some more diversity and some fresh faces, but still there are 2-3 "new big clubs" dominating mostly.
Florentino Perez spoke today and I agree with him
"If this covid situation continue, it will destroy and ruin European football, nine billions $ already lost in one year, it can't continue in that way, Super League will save football "
That doesn't make sense at all.
Firstly: if this Covid situation continues it will destroy and ruin European football anyway, with or without a super league.
Secondly: the pandemic will come to an end pretty soon because of the vaccination programme, so that makes the argument irrelevant altogether.
BS from Perez, what's really destroying European football are extreme wages and agent fees being paid by clubs who don't have the money but can cheaply loan it and legitimize it by creative accounting.
what corona did is only make it clear to everbody out there who the clubs are that had been living above what they could affort.
The "big" 12 should look at their expenditure and fix that instead of looking for more money to fill the holes.
The clubs with a financial solid policy (Bayern, Dortmund, Ajax, Porto) are against the ESL with good reason.
regarding perez's statement - The whole world knows its about the bling bling .
I for one look forward to the ESL starting not really because of the games, but the backlash and criticism its going to recieve. People are finnally going to realise there is a problem with the amount 'big clubs' spend. It could result with the fixing or at least make the financial system of football clubs a lot stronger than they are right now.
Its going to make a great Netflix/Amazon docu :)
European governments with their pocket organization UEFA are destroying football as business industry and they are the real enemy, not "big clubs".
And pandemic will be till end of 2022, at least, maybe even longer
