For teams with debt at the start of the transfer window place the best three players on the transfer list for $1million and let them find their sale value. It would soon focus the minds of players. We can't blame managers who are choosing to play the boom and bust scenario though, that's just an option within the game at the moment.

I agree with Monk, the best players should be put on the transfer market automatically, if the club has debt. Also, you should not be able to heal players while your balance is negative. This needs to be adressed, otherwise this is one way how players can choose to quit the game.

That's a decent idea Monk.

Personally I favour a more straightforward option. A financial fair play rule which would be similar to a club going into administration:

Any team in debt at the end of the season gets

• a points deduction in the league and
• is barred from entering any continental tournaments

Problem solved.

Sounds sensible Numpty. There are lots of options which simply put will mean that managers will no longer opt for the boom and bust because the disadvantages outweigh the advantages. The biggest question is, given the debate that raged by making keepers over 45 retire, will there be the appetite for another major game update? I suspect not.

@Numpty I would add a debt limit, e.g. $200m, to avoid catching out new players or e.g. those at small clubs in small debt after starting to build a facility near the end of the season - whether or not that's a wise thing to do, they're not the problem here.

That's a fair point @ipfreely. I had in fact considered that myself.

It's true that some starter clubs might get into a small debt, but even if the same penalties were applied they're not likely to matter much as (a) they won't be playing any international tournaments and (b) they're probably not trying to win the league. In any event any points penalty only needs to be applied to clubs in the top tier.

Having said that your suggestion of a non-zero base line would be fine too. Although an overdraft limit of say $50 million would easily cover any smaller clubs.

Both my teams won the league this season without losing a game. Expected for my Aus 2nd team I guess, but not my main team - that was a minor miracle! My goalies did wonders.

Estonian NT, which should not qualify to Euro, passed group and reached to QF. Our overall squad was maybe weakest of 16, but game relys so much on keepers.
