Season 68 (43)

fo BakerMan >> montag august 22 - 11:13

Well, here it is. As sure as death and taxes, season 68 rolls around.

What will the new season bring, what are your hopes, fears and dreams? And how many games in will they all be shattered into a million pieces like a glass kitten dropped from the top of a very tall buidling?

Here at the Beach, there's a new dawn. Gone are the stalwarts of Linder and Tabuyo and in their place is, er... well, no one. The kids are being asked to step up and do the job of world class players. I fear this will mean ignominy in European competition. I hope to still have enough to be very competitive in the league and I have a dream that my club can one day be run with a wage bill that doesn't mean I have to constantly scour the transfer market to make ends meet.

Super Cup is in the bag, so as long as Lema and Malepa stay fit, the mighty Beach will be alive and kicking for a while longer yet.

Here at the Small Heath Allianz, its a change of formation, a new broom at Sweeper and more transition to my level 5 YA players. Overall rating down, but hopes are high - the U21s may take a bit of a hit this year as the strike force is a little weak, but who knows...

Will try to avoid the ignominy of last year's European performance and actually get through the qualifying rounds this season.

A thrilling win for the Beach away from home today. 1-0 down with only 9 minutes to go but we all know how this ends by now. Tabuyo - wait, Hoskins - to Lema and bang! 2-1 with the winner coming in the 89th minute. Scenes. It's no CL final win, but what a rush!

Some interesting scores around today - may be quite a fun season.

0-2 down inside 30 minutes for me, then back to win 4-2 with a hatrick from the old man Bing de Ang showing he's good for another season!

Mid table mediocrity beckons as usual.

Hmmm - assuming no late transfer deals are coming through, things might get interesting this year. Average ratings of last year's top 6 going into this season...

Seaburn Beach 23.15

Les Gothiques 22.40

Canvey island 22.75

Cardiff City 22.35

Jaypridee Town 22.55

Newcastle United 22.00

By far the closest things have ever been on average rating. Will The Beach's superstar GK save the day, while Lema scores the goals or will we finally see a change at the top...

Let's add one more into the mix...

FC Juventus at 22.65 average rating should be a contender as well

Realistically 7 teams going for 6 European spots. My feeling is Seaburn may drop a few more points than normal, but will still come out on top...

Well, can't buy a win. Regressed badly from last season. Revising my mid table mediocrity prediction to relegation battle.

The second round of the cup was played yesterday.

So far there's been no draw for the next round. Doesn't this always take place the day after the previous round or am I mistaken?

Well spotted. There should be 2 more U21s scheduled last night for Thursday & Friday.

This could just be the English league or probably more widespread...

Update - it's not just England.

As far as I can tell other leagues that needed Cup and/or U21 matches didn't get done last night either.

No-one around to do fixes either. :/

Here at Wuthering Depths we are plodding on with the patient task of building up money with a view to improving training facilities. To bhoy the despondent faithful, we have brought back home England and Seaburn legend Danny Linder. A pearl amongst swine. Not even Danny boy can lift us back up to the heights of European places but at least his performances will give us something to reminisce about in a few seasons time.

It'll be tighter at the top for sure, without a stand out squad Seaburn will have tho rely on managerial acumen to bring home the silver. In Stephen there is no better, so when all the dust has settled expect little change. Good luck all.
