I would make him an attacker, because of his special.
Yeah, as a forward he'll win a few penalties and free kicks.
Forward is the best way as forwards don't pick too much cards and possible freekicks from so far are not very dangerous. On midfield he will pick many cards every season and miss 3-4 matches at least if your defenders are Correct. Mid can make foul close enough to box that freekick would be dangerous.
