Calculating times trained using the actual skill (15)

Jim >> tuesday july 2 - 06:04
I was trying to determine which player to buy based on how many times a player was trained on an skill before bidding (For example between a keeper with 6 of blocking and 3 tactics and one with 5.8 on blocking, 2 on tactics and 2 on passing) to determine if it's worth spend credits or not, so i went to check the help files because something seemed odd.

https://rockingsoccer.com/en/soccer/help/home/category-2/article-44

The example works fine when the age factor is 100%, but it seems to fail sometimes

For example:

My keeper have 145 times trained on blocking with an age factor of 76, so he should have a blocking skill of 5.51, instead his skill is 6.78, more than 1 ball more.
My midfield have 115 times trained on passing with an age factor of 98, so he should have a passing skill of 5.63, instead his skill is 5.65, almost the same but still not identical, and that is with an almost 100 age factor, with an older midfield the difference could be higher.
Meanwhile my forward have 152 times trained on scoring with an age factor of 77, so he should have a scoring skill of 5.81, which he does.
(I don't old players with high dueling, my defenders are young)

Anyone knows why sometimes the value is different to the one it should be or what I'm doing wrong?

Everything you do is fine, it's just a few minor things that put you on the wrong foot: First of all, the agingfactor is given in full percentages, but those are actually rounded numbers. The midfielder in you example who has an age factor of 98 in reality has an age factor of somewhere between 97.5 and 98.5. Within that interval there is a number that would give you the exact passing skill.

Second: The blocking skill is not depending on the age factor in the same way as the other skills, not even close. It's a way to let keepers reach their peak later in the game. I don't have the aging formula for blocking, I guess it is a function containing a squareroot.. Maybe someone else knows this?

Just to add to Koen's excellent answer.

For blocking the 4th root of the age factor is applied. This is what makes the keepers last so much longer. (On a basic calculator this can easily be done by using the square root function twice.)

So for the keeper the formula is:

Blocking value = times trained/20 * (age factor)**1/4

With your keeper this becomes 145/20 * (0.76)**1/4 = 6.78

(Bearing in mind that the aging factor will not be exactly 0.76).

The midfielder is currently aged 22 year, 20 weeks. This will give him an age factor of approximately 98.25%.

Therefore his Passing skill will be 115/20 * 0.9825 = 5.65

Summary of skills vs age factor

Blocking - apply the 4th root of the age factor

Duelling, Passing and Scoring -  apply the age factor

Tactics - no age factor

Similarly, the fixed attributes are:

Power, Speed - apply the age factor

Endurance - apply the age factor, squared

No wonder my formula was wrong, I went linear instead of exponential :-/ Thanks Numpty.

How is the age factor defined relative to the age? Are there any tables/studies/formula available?

PS new manager, just started to look around.

UPDATE: found the table.
