Staff bonus (7)

it Federico >> tuesday august 30 - 09:09

In the guide it says that when we have two staff members assigned to the same plant, the bonus we get is calculated by adding the two bonuses. Taking the example from the guide, two bonuses of 20% create a bonus of 44% (1.20 * 1.20). I wonder why the foreman who at level 10 has 30% when I have two creates a bonus of 51% and not 69%.

Your level 10 Construction Manager reduces the building time by 30%, which is 70% of the original.

When you have 2 of them it reduces the building time by another 30%, so the calculation is 0.7 * 0.7 = 0.49.

Therefore the effective bonus is 51% of the original building time.

In the guide it is written that a staff member with 20% bonus, if another one with 20% bonus is added, they will get an overall bonus of 44% because it comes out of 1.20 * 1.20. It does not take into account the remaining%

Applying this reasoning two members with 30% bonus should get 1.3 * 1.3 = 1.69, therefore 69% bonus

There's a major difference between a bonus that gives you something extra and a different bonus that gives you a reduction.

An extra 20% bonus gives a multiplier of 120%.

A reduction of 30% gives a multiplier of 70%.

Mathematically it has to work that way to make any sense.

For instance if you have a 50% reduction, like with the museum, then the calculation is 0.5 * 0.5 = 0.25, giving you a reduction of 75%.

If instead you calculated 1.50 * 1.50 = 2.25, that would give you a reduction of 125% from the original, meaning you would be a time traveller as you finished before you even started. So you can see that reasoning is flawed :D

You're welcome.

Health centre bonuses, which are injury reductions, will also work the same way.

Similarly, 2 level 10 training centre staff (15% bonus) reduces the training time for specials, 0.85 * 0.85 = 0.7225.
