Casual fans have a more or less fixed increase per season, which varies mostly with the number of continental matches and to a smaller extent with match results. Losses result from natural decline and conversion to normal fans, both of which are directly proportional to the number of casual fans.
So while the positive is similar every season the losses increase with the size of the fan base. When the increases and losses are in balance over a season then the casual fan base stops increasing.
This occurs first. I would estimate that most clubs with high popularity would probably have between 300,000-400,000 or maybe a little more if they play a lot of continental matches. ***
A similar argument applies to normal fans, but this only starts to stabilise after the casual fans due to the casual fans to normal fans conversions. Normal fans are more influenced by match results than casual fans, so I would anticipate a greater variation between clubs and from season to season.
