friday september 13 - 16:54 Yeah, that's correct. The main advantage is popularity. Promotion to a higher league may bring greater attendances in the short term, but once you start losing (or drawing) home matches the popularity growth rate stalls.
There are other advantages such as spending most of the income on building facilities rather than paying to maintain a squad of players to try and be competitive.
As for the boredom factor. That's also correct. It does get a bit tedious, but the alternative would probably be just as frustrating in it's own way. Many teams go up a couple of levels and before getting anywhere near the top they find themselves struggling in mid-table or battling relegation in a meaningless league. That would be some kind of challenge but it's ultimately fairly pointless unless they are near the top level. Especially as it slows progress down in the areas already mentioned.
It's a bit like the tortoise vs the hare analogy.
In general, my plan is build facilities until I'm ready to steam-roller all the way to the top level in successive seasons.
