Matches and strategy: Advanced tactics

Here is a list and description of the available options.

Match plan

The match plan sets the expectation you have for this match. Depending on this setting your players will take more or less risks to get the desired result.

Tackles

The tackles setting determines how aggressive your players will be.

Normal: this is the default, when set to normal the match engine will behave as it always does.

Pressing: your players will attempt more tackles. The drawback is that your players get a little more tired and are more likely to get cards.

Easy: your players will attempt less tackles, are less likely to get cards and get a little less tired.

Passing

This setting influences the type of passes your players will attempt

Mixed: this is the default. Both long and short passes are attempted. With this settings the players decide for themselves which passes has the best chance to succeed.

Short: players will try more passes to the same or directly adjacent regions.

Long: players will try more forward passes over 2 or more regions.

Shooting

This setting influences the minimum scoring chance your players need to try a shot at goal. If set to high risk your players will try more difficult shots. If it is set to low risk they will wait longer for a better chance.

Flank

This setting influences the passing of your players. They are more likely to make passes to the flank you select here.

Corners

Influences the position of your players in corner situations. This setting affects attacking and defending corners.

Normal: this is the default value.

Offensive: your players will be positioned more offensively in corners. This setting is good for scoring from corners or countering after defending against a corner.

Defensive: your players will be positioned more defensively in corners. This setting is more safe. You're less likely to score from a corner, but will also be less vulnerable to counters.

Penalty taker

Set your first choice for penalties during the match. This setting does not affect penalty shootouts after a tied knockout match.

You can't set your keeper as penalty taker. If your penalty taker is not on the field, someone else will be automatically selected.

Free kick taker

Set your first choice for taking free kicks when there is a scoring chance. You can't select your keeper for this.

Corners left/right

Set your first choice for taking corners. The "right" corner taker is the one taking the corners on the right side from the point of view of your team, so it makes sense to select your right midfielder for the right corners and left midfielder for the left corners.
