Invincile Delft - MSV en AV Flakkee

Invincible Delft started this competition full of hope. They were going to be a top contender for the title, so they though. How different it turned out. They got their first victory only in round 7 after an opening round loss followed by 5 consecutive draws. Round 8 however saw them rush to a second consecutive away victory when they defeated the Houtsnippers with 2-5.
Now their next three opponents will be ranked below them, starting at home tomorrow. Can they continue their strong run and find their way to the subtop?

Sadly, Invincible Delft could not impress today. After scoring 5 goals in our last match we were once again shown how much we lack a good striker.
Invincible had the best chances during the match, but it was the visiting team that seemed to get a sure lead in the first half when they were awarded a penalty. The 500 people in the stadium showed their discontent at the easily given yellow card. Keeper Winston Milton however kept the match at 0-0 by stopping the shot of Zrnović.
After this, the visitors rarely caused any real danger, but even though Invincible tried very hard they were extremely sloppy in all of their attempts.
This resulted in the 6th draw this season, and the 4th 0-0.

After their dissapointing draw at home, securing points in an away match against close rivals Matthias IF seemed far from an easy task for Invincible Delft.
They started nervous and Mervin Holbein soon showed his bad side when pushing Leyen to the ground. The resulting free kick led to nothing though.
Except for a few occasions, the defense of Invincible once again looked solid while the attack failed to impress. They did occasionally show potential though. One well played attack was enough to secure victory when star midfielder Sadami broke through together with both forwards. He chose to pass to young forward Klaever who left the keeper without a chance: 0-1!
In a nervous final fase of the match, the home team got several good chances to make the equaliser and when Neerhout could not play on things started to look less good for Invincible. Matthias IF had no luck today though so the match ended with 0-1 on the scoreboard. Neerhout's injury fortunately doesn't seem serious. He is expected to be able to play in the next match against Dalfsen.

Away against Dalfsen, Invincible got their 7th draw this season (in 11 matches) with a 1-1 final result.
For a long time, Invincible were actually holding a 0-1 lead. Midfielder Duarte, who is often criticised for his lack of passion for the team (some would even call him lazy) was the hero on Delft's side, receiving the ball from Sadami and scoring a beautiful distance-goal.
Dalfsen however got the equaliser they deserved when they were awarded a penalty. Where Milton recently saved Delft by stopping a penalty at 0-0 he couldn't prevent the 1-1 today.
The cry from the fans for attacking reinforcements will probably get even louder after today as Delft again lost two points on most of the title contenders.

In their fourth home match of the season, Invincible is still without a win in their own stadium. Would they succeed today against Noordoostpolder?
Delft certainly started well, with a goal from young defender Gurani. Gurani stayed behind after a corner situation and scored from a beautifull pass of french hardworking midfielder Lavicq.
The visitors soon corrected their mistake when Doinao scored the 1-1. The defense was warned for the abilities of the tactical portuguese striker but still allowed him far too much space.
The first half therefore ended with the match in balance and the fans wondering if Delft simply couldn't win at home.
The second half however saw a completely different Invincible. With Sadami for Baudelaire they created a lot more chances and saw their work rewarded with goals from Hoogteijling (in only his second match for the senior squad), de Boer and Klaever.
You could see the team was relieved and happy when the final wistle blew and the scoreboard showed 4-1 in favor of Delft. The goals from Gurani and Hoogteijling meant that Invincible already has 10 different players who made one or more goals this season.

Fans responded furiously when instead of buying an extra forward (as they so often requested) the club decided to sell one of their best forwards. Calls were heard for the resignation of their manager. The club responded that his position was not being questioned.
With a recent loss away against VV AP however, the upcoming series of home matches may be very important for him. Will he be proven right that an extra forward is not necessary or will this kill their chances for a position in the subtop?

FC Beawulf 0-1 Invincible Delft
Sometimes you are outclassed but still win. Delft played a very defensive formation which resulted in very few chances for either side in the first half.
When one of these chances resulted in a corner for Invincible, defender Vincent de Boer made use of a small defensive error and scored the 0-1 for the visiting team.
After that, Invincible was happy to fall back and let Beawulf attack, which they did. They got some very good chances while Invincible only occasionaly became dangerous. No other goals were made though so Invincible earned 3 very welcome points, only a day after their painful defeat against their direct rivals VV AP.

Feyenoord 3-1 Invincible Delft
When asked how it was possible that, despite an early goal, Invincible couldn't avoid their worst defeat so far, Delft's spokesman just replied "no comments".

Invincible Delft 2-2 Almere city fc
Invincible could not have imagined a worse start to this match. The visitors got to a 0-2 lead in only 6 minutes.
Things didn't get much better for Delft after that either. Almere got a total of 9 chances in the first half, whereas Delft got only 2 and 3 yellow cards. A lucky shot from Klaever did put Delft at 1-2 so they could go to the locker rooms with some sort of hope for a good outcome.
The second half was more balanced, Almere still seemed the better team but only slightly. They didn't seem very eager to increase their lead though and Delft took advantage of that when their new forward Berard scored the 2-2.
After that, Almere got more chances to win the match but it stayed 2-2 until the final whistle. Invincible was saved the shame of losing a home match, but they will really need to play better if they want to maintain their current position.

Invincible Delft 0-1 vv Sleen
It looks like Delft's luck has run out. Sleen had not won a match in a long time and the bookmakers showed no signs of expecting this to change in the away match against Delft yet this is what happened.
Delft got more chances, but Sleen got the early goal. Delft sure tried, having some really good opportunities, but it wasn't to be. When Baudelaire was sent away with a direct red card and Duarte and Holbein fell out with injuries it could have ended a lot worse but Invincible was spared further embarrassment. Nevertheless, this is not a match they will like to remember.
Can they do better tomorrow against Deventer?

Invincible Delft 2-1 GAE Deventer
Invincible Delft lost the opening game of the season to Deventer with 1-0, with that in mind (and the poor recent results) Delft was really eager to get a good result today.
It took Deventer only 13 minutes though to silence the stadium when IJsselmuiden scored the opening goal: 0-1. Once again, Delft's defenses turned out to be easy to fool when under pressure.
Fortunately, Neerhout kept the time to think of negative scenario's to a minimum by scoring the equaliser only 10 minutes later. Delft had a lot more chances so there was no reason why they wouldn't still be able to win this. In the 28th minute, Delft already converted another chance when Gurani scored from a corner. In 15 minutes, Delft turned a 0-1 score into a 2-1 lead, but could they hold onto this?
They certainly didn't show much efficiency in the rest of the match, wasting their next 19 scoring opportunities. Gurani could have scored another two goals, and Neerhout, Klaever and Berard also missed excellent opportunities to decide the match.
Since Deventer didn't really create anything this didn't become a problem. Delft won this match with 2-1. A good result but club management won't be happy with how the team is doing so far this season.

Alphen City FC 2-1 Invincible Delft
Once again, Delft got an early lead but failed to hold on to it. Only 3 minutes after the 0-1 by Berard (8'), Alphen already made 1-1.
In the 27th minute, Gurani was sent off with a red card. Alphen was the better team during most of the match and they were rewarded for their efforts in the 71st minute when Willem Gaanderse scored the 2-1 with a beautiful distance-shot.
This defeat surely means that Delft can no longer hope to compete for the first three spots as the difference with the number 1 has increased to no less than 11 points. They will have to fight for what they are worth to end in the top half of the league.
