The worry about Coronavirus-2019 (198)

es Carrasco >> 星期六 三月 14 - 04:32
The virus is spreading all over the world, and currently only China seems to be improving after a two-month erupt, and has begun to assist other countries, such as Japan, South Korea, Iran, Iraq, Italy and so on. . . It seems that different countries have adopted different control methods. For example, people are asked try to stay at home and not go out, wearing masks, reducing contact with people, washing their hands often, and do virus tests when they have symptoms. . .

I wonder what is the status of your country? After all, media reports may not always be true.

Bad government is the general issue in my country ( Nigeria  ), do you know that immediately corona virus was said to be in Nigeria , facemask  increase from => 0.15 Euro to 14.73 Euro <=

Sanitizer increased from => 1.23 Euro to

18.41 Euro <=

Everyone wants to make profit so that others will go six feet. So sad

Therefore in my country  we can't have two diseases at a time, is either corona go for bad government to stay or bad government go for corona to stay.

Let me ask you,  corona and bad government which one Is deadly??

Hard to say. Different perspectives and positions can lead to different conclusions. No one knows whether they represent the opinions of most people.
But there is news that Germany and France have expropriated the medical supplies of Switzerland and Italy for virus control. Does anyone know what is going on?Is that in line with international law?

Here the advise is, stay indoors when you have any symptoms, like sneezing or fever ect.. I can't go to my work, im having a cold, so im not allowed to go to the office. Luckily i can do most of my work from home.

Don't understand why schools are still open though.

@Kalle. It's difficult to balance benefit against risk. The children themselves appear to have very mild symptoms so are very low risk.

Closing schools will have a knock-on effect on the rest of the population. Many parents will need to take time off work, possibly from medical related and care jobs. Others will go to their grandparents who are in a higher risk group. The children will have lots of free time and still play with each other.

Here, in the UK, it's considered likely that we are about a month behind Italy in the spread.

The official view is that it will soon become widespread in the population and there's nothing that can be done to stop that happening. They estimate that there are probably 10 to 20 times more people currently infected than the number of confirmed cases. (798 confirmed as of Friday 13th March.)

So the government's plan is essentially to mitigate against the worst case. They fear that if it spreads quickly then the hospitals might be overwhelmed with serious cases and not be able to cope and more people will die if they can't be treated effectively.

So they hope to slow the spread of the virus so that it peaks in the summer months and that it has a lower peak which lasts over a longer period.

Currently we are in the very early stages and the risk to any one individual is still fairly low and most people are carrying on as normal.  People are asked to be careful visiting the elderly and those with probable symptoms are being asked to self-isolate for a week, but there are no steps to close things down at present. Although many people are acting more cautiously in social situations and major sporting events have been cancelled rather than banned. However, a ban seems to be imminent.

One aspect of the government's advice is based on so-called behavioural science.

If they start closing things down too early then the whole country might potentially be in lockdown for months and then what are people going to instead? Children will still play with each other, people will still socialise and most people will get fed up and it will become less effective as time goes by. So they plan to have a shorter lockdown when things are getting much worse.

On a personal note I have a very close family member in a care home who is very vulnerable and if infected would likely not survive. I also have a daughter working as a hospital doctor.

As far as I know, the method used in China is to requisition large venues such as stadiums to set temporary hospitals and treat patients with minor symptoms after confirming the virus test. Send those patients with severe symptoms to a special isolation hospital. Of course, this requires a lot of medical staff and supplies. But the government believes they have no right to abandon any patients who may be cured. The cost of treatment for all confirmed patients in excess of medical insurance will be fully borne by the country finance.

Belgium is in a kind of phase just before lockdown for a few weeks. Schools are still open, but the government advises to keep them home for those who can't. For the others there is day care in the schools, but lessons are suspended for now.

Working for home is advised. But the most strong measure is to close bars, pubs, cafes and restaurants completely. Some shops have to close in the weekend.

Some pubs/bars decided to host a 'corono-lockdown party'... :(

People are hamsterin toilet paper (!), pasta's and pasta sauce, conservatives.

It's a bit exaggerated in my opinion...

It’s pretty much inevitable that it will take its course now. I expect I’ll be ordered to work from home at some point next week to try and delay the spread.

The panic buying of goods is the most ridiculous part. Went into a supermarket yesterday and the bit of the aisle that would normally be for toilet paper, tissues and kitchen towels was completely bare. Thankfully, I didn’t need those things.

i then walked past two old people in the street who were complaining about it all:

”You can’t get hold of hand sanitiser for love nor money”

”I know, it’s terrible.”

”Luckily, I bought a load of it early on”

”Oh, me too”

I literally laughed out loud.

Lol @Stephen. I agree. It never ceases to amaze me how selfish most people turn out to be when they fear there might be some kind of shortage.

I saw a clip on the TV recently showing a warehouse full of loo rolls etc. There's plenty available and it's simply a case of restocking the shelves. Even so it hasn't stopped me doing a rough count in my own home... (About 14!)

I'm certainly willing to share, so if anyone would like some of mine I'll be very happy to pass on my used ones, only slightly soiled ...   :D

Alot of places closed down in Estonia including schools , borders(somewhat) , hospitals(only serious injuries), gyms , spas etc

I still have to work , travel by buses and trains, crowded shopping centers , ofcourse i managed to squeeze in my last doctors appointments, gym and spa days before people started developping symptons :D
