Season 56 (48)
Well in a shock move Deeprijay town have been bought by a mysterious chinese conglomerate, renamed as Prideejay Town and relocated from Birmingham to Plymouth. When asked how they felt about the move, long suffering Brummie fans were unanimous in saying 'They can bugger off for all we care - they never won anything anyway'.
Along with a switch to a slightly dodgy purple/black/lilac this turn of events has left the football world not caring much at all. Rumours that the conglomerate have promised BakerMan a level 5 youth academy as a Christmas present have been fully confirmed by the club - as the new chief executive said strictly on the record 'BakerMan has proved himself deeply useless in the transfer market, so it was felt the only hope was to grow our own as the previous CEO foolishly agreed a lifetime contract for this incompetent'.
It remains to be seen if this can be the thing to spur the club to trophies, but going on the history of the last 50 seasons, probably not.
Lol @ Bakerman.
The season has started in typical fashion. A defeat to Newcastle in the super cup after an injury to a key defender cost the team dear. Then a strong performance against a tough Melchester Rovers side was somewhat tarnished by an injury after an hour to Seaburn's best midfielder, Graumann. Heal cost: more than £11m. No thanks. Think I'll wait as long as I can before healing that one.
Surprised to see Newcastle selling their GK though. Now the monster is gone, a chance for some others to make a mark at the top, perhaps?
2 games and 2 defeats.......excellent - my plan is working (cue maniacal laughter and hand rubbing).
EDIT - And just like that, we are off to the races! The boys will sleep well tonight.
[reporter] Mr Clough could we....
Cloughie: Firstly I'm happy to be back and I've never claimed to be the best just in the top one!
@ Bakerman, love it.
Finally young man,(as Clough's pearcing eyes burns a hole through the reporter), if I sent 11 archers out to defend Nottingham castle and we shot off just the one arrow what do you think my reaction would be ???
reporter: but, but ... I haven't asked a question sir
5 defeats in 7.....and Big Sam is no longer available, so I guess the club is stuck with me. Will I get a huge bonus for avoiding relegation?
I'm really getting f'in annoyed with this game....are my players really as s##t as results would suggest?! Yes, I have an older keeper but I expected his blocking skills to be sufficient to catch the ball.
Playing 5 at the back is doing sod all, so I'm going to try a few different variations to see if that will get me a point or two.
I'll keep everyone updated on my progress!
I think your defence could use some replacements Lee. I've not spent ages looking at them, but they're mostly quite old and their star value reflects they aren't the strongest. You probably need some fresh blood with high duelling.
The same can probably be said for your forward line and midfield (not the duelling bit, obvs!)
The good news is with stadium 11 and low FA/YA, you can probably buy a couple of players to get you moving forward.
Thanks Stephen - during the last 2 or 3 windows I've deliberately focused on bringing in older established players with the aim of simply staying up, so I do have a few that will need replacing but most of my defenders have over 6.5 duelling, my best midfielders have over 7 passing, and my main forwards have over 7 scoring, which I was hoping would bring in the points I need.
I know I'm not going to get much from the games against 75% of the teams; it's the remaining 25% I need to get points from - there's still a long way to go, so things could improve (especially if I can secure some fresh blood in the next window).
You're better off bringing in one exceptional player, than three decent ones. The match engine rewards this in a way that's a bit annoying. Getting hold of these players is the tricky bit!
A bad day to be a supporter of one of the Strood sides after Seaburn Beach rolled into town for a couple of hours and left with a 13-1 aggregate win. Former league champions Strood City suffered some heavy punishment with a 9-0 defeat. It's sad to see such a great club brought so low. Perhaps one day they will rise again.
In news that is literally of no interest to anyone but me, Felix Donkova will break the Seaburn goalscoring record if he scores 9 goals in the next 9 games. "Fazza" Farrington, who holds the current record and now of Melchester, can only wait and see how Donkova gets on.
(Apologies for locking the topic overnight accidentally.)
EDIT: Pridejay Town away in the Cup? This is the worst possible draw I could have
Well, what was looking like a promising season falls apart in 3 days.
2 inexplicable league losses in a row (having only previously lost to Seaburn), European League group now looking very tricky to progress from and out of the cup on penalties (to Seaburn).
Now just the Youth Cup to keep me interested and maybe what is looking like a closer race for top 4 than in previous years.
Maybe we'll have to move from Plymouth as well - clearly hasn't made the difference.
There's now a title race in England again, after a ridiculous few days culminated in this travesty of a match.

Games like this leave me feeling this is a massive waste of time.
Even though I've been using it myself a lot recently, I still detest minimise defeat and think it is the most inappropriatley named setup there could possibly be. It may be one of the most inappropriately named things in the history of everything (I scored 4 using it in one match against a better side). I started using it originally against teams that were beating me using it (every time).
It certainly conveys a defensive bonus like it's supposed to but the offensive penalties seem to be very weak when applied against even half decent strikers.
That said, it's there to be used and teams are going to use it, mostly because they don't want to get tanked by the better sides.
Sadly, we know it's not going to be changed any time soon (or ever!). If it was to be what it says on the tin, the defensive bonuses would only really kick in when a team goes behind. At the moment it should be renamed Park the Bus.
It's exciting at the top but almost claustrophobic at the bottom - I would be happy to change places with you Stephen.
Yes, sorry about that. A bit embarassing really. Having lost 0-2 at home in the initial fixture, I was concerned I would get a real thumping so played it to, well, minimise my defeat. The gulf between the two teams is still large, I don't really see it as a title race (that's not me playing things down, I just think that the best team always wins the title and this year that is clearly Seaburn) and expect that I'll also get a ridiculous result thrown in sooner or later. Who knows though. A hollow win. Shame it wasn't in the cup, I might have actually won something then.
