Yep, I agree with @Joddit.
In general, players with variable performances are best used as attacking players. Defenders need to be reliable.
It can be useful to have a number of forwards that can be used in rotation depending on the match.

Well, I am not so sure. He just plays better at home. Away, he plays without the bonus. Audience player is categorized with all other positive bonuses in the search page of the TM.

It says "Plays better at home, worse away."
He plays worse away. That seems pretty clear to me.
If it was exactly as you suggest then it would simply say "Plays better at home."
Yes, that would be more exact. I am not sure about this attribute yet. I have tested for several seasons, never noticed the worse part. I think the definition is not clear, at least for me.
Perhaps this will convince you then.
This is from the Help:
"Some have positive and negative effects: an "audience player" plays even better at home, but worse away. "
So Audience player does have a negative effect.
Tall player.Could I use him as a GK?

GK or defender seem the most obvious positions based on tall. Given his high speed and not quite so high power GK might be optimal.
