We are on pace with them. They are front loading their home games. Also unless Nicaragua comes out of last place, games vs them will not count

Thanks Clothier,
We had a good outing today. I feel that after some close games, we've earned a comfortable win. The Defense was solid and the midfield provided good service. Playing at home certainly helped. Montserrat also had an interland game about an hour before our qualifier. They had some tired players.

That being said, this win helps us a lot (obviously). Guatemala tied Guadeloupe, so we actually have more points then Guatemala in the race to qualify, after removing the games against the last place team. Also, we need a lopsided game like this to improve goal differential. Advancing in this competition will be a very tight competition, it could come down to goal differential.

Next up we have Cuba in Cuba. They haven't been playing well lately, but have historically been a difficult opponent. Given that we have three home games in the last 5 matches, Guatemala has 2, earning points against Cuba in the next game will put us in a strong position to advance.

Actually, having more points than guatelmala in qualifying doesnt help. They are still the 1 seed with 5 points and we are the 2 seed with 7.

We have to beat them in pool to win, and currently its tied 8-8.

good news is theres 6 games to go, we have 3 home games (including 1 vs guatemala) and they also have 3. As long as we hold at home, we should win the pool.

Yes, we need to win the group. Comparing us to Guatemala in points subtracting the last place team was probably misleading.

We managed an important win today in world cup qualifying. Beating cuba in Cuba is no easy feat. The game was close, but we had slightly better play. Fortunately, Pilcher put home a corner kick late in the game to give the US the win. The 3 points puts us on top of our group as Guatemala tied Montserrat today. This puts us in a strong position going into the second half of qualifying. We have three home games in the last 5 qualifiers. The next is against Guatemala, which is extremely important.

The US team also managed a 1-0 win in yesterday's interland game against Belize. It is notable that 19 year old wonderkid John Leclair tallied his first international goal, giving the US the win.

Congratulations!

John Leclair is currently playing the entire game for all U21 games. I am considering making room for him to play with my regular team as well next season. I'll also probably start to train him with long shots, sharpshooter, and penalty specialist next season.

Ninis played entire regular games since age 19, I guess John Leclair can do the same thing.

We've had a fair bit of personnel change in the last couple of rounds of National Team selection. Unfortunately, I've chosen to drop both of my US NT players. We've had an interesting, 6.25 talent, 24 year old keeper pop up on the shortlist, from the top team in Norway. We need to start grooming Skidmore's replacement, and this is the best prospect currently on the shortlist. I've also sadly dropped forward Cheung Fang in favor of developing younger players. Traba has surpassed Fang as the #2 forward on the team and there are several good prospects on the shortlist at Forward, including Foga from Ash Burn. Traba and Boden should both be preferred over Fang by the World Cup.

We've also lost Westerman from the shortlist. I was sad to see him go. Despite his advanced age, he was a very effective defensive midfielder. It will be up to Medinosky for FC-Subkid to take over this role, though the shortlist presents a couple of other candidates to take over the primary defensive midfielder role in the coming weeks.

Friday is extremely important for world cup qualifying as we take on Guatemala at home. A win would over the second place team in our group would go a long way to getting us in the qualification playoffs. Perhaps we'll play in Ulysses' new 70000 seat stadium. A 70,000 seat soccer only stadium in the US? Who would have thought that would have been possible?

I am a little frustrated that we had an interland game scheduled a few hours before the qualifyer. My strategy for that game is simply to keep the starting 11 as fresh as possible.

Really just a ridiculous result against Guatemala today. We lost 2-0 at home. We outshot them 19-12. I was expecting some goals from both sides, but getting shutout is just unfathomable. There were no simulations where we got shutout. In fact, we were consistently scoring 3 or 4 goals in simulations with this formation. We took 19 shots and a very average international keeper made 7 saves: http://rockingsoccer.com/en/soccer/info/player-601978

And in our interland game we lost 1-0 despite taking 19 shots. John LeClair missed a PK at the end of the game that would have tied the score.

We were playing normal shooting. I see why people get frustrated and quit the game.
