Barely avoided relegation last season if the real EPL is anything to go by I must be favourites to win the league now

So 5000-1 odds to win the title? Surely not.

Greetings to all on the eve of another magnificent season on behalf of the Scammonden Daoists. We are a set of humble monks living out our lives in the bleak and desolate hills of Scammonden in West Yorkshire. Famed for our dirty tricks and kung fu kicks we certainly have overachieved in reaching league 1, our third promotion in 9 seasons.

It is true that we are very lucky to be here. We only won league 2 by a single point, earned by a last kick of the season penalty. In truth we lost almost 30% of our games in league 2 last season and conceded more goals than the team who came 10th, so we are in serious danger of breaking records at the wrong end of the table if we don't step up dramatically. To try to remedy this we have bought keeper David Attenborough (love child of now 90 year old naturalist David Attenborough whilst filming a documentary in Tanzania 55 years ago. Away fans have a tendency to distract him by showing him interesting exotic animals he hasn't seen before, but I'm hoping his home form will help keep the goals against tally down a little). We are also the only club currently in league 1 never to have played at this level before so the omens are not good, but if it is only to be a one season wonder then so be it, we will enjoy it no matter what.

We particularly are looking forwards to our trip out to play county rivals Yorkshire Boys when we travel to Scarborough. The Abbot has already ordered the ice creams, which will be available for the players after an hour of swimming in the fresh sea and 2 hours of running in the beach sand. Yes, that will still count as a day out and a treat for the Monks. Our first three matches are Leicestershire home, Forza Milan away and Chelsea at home. We need points quickly, so no pressure there then.

Good luck to all, especially those representing us in Europe. At this time of the season many make predictions. All I will say is that for us, bottom place is a failure, relegation via the play off is a failure but a decent effort, staying up via the play off a success and staying up with no play off- blooming miraculous!

Good luck to all,
Monk

Monk, your posts often crack me up :) Rumours abound that Seaburn Beach fans have ordered in a variety of animal masks to distract your keeper. If that doesn't work, they're going to release some howler monkeys onto the pitch. [The management of Seaburn Beach wishes to distance itself from any such actions.]

The season has started off reasonably well. A 9-2 aggregate win over some Macedonian no-hopers means that I haven't (yet) single-handedly managed to destroy the England coefficient. Still, there's a long way to go before I can be said to have added any value.

In the league, Billy the Worm's tactical prowess and some suspicious betting patterns helped Seaburn Beach to a surprise 2-0 away win over one of the top sides in the league, The North London FC. Reports have come in that one of the London defenders was seen driving away in a brand new gold-plated sports car. Neither this report nor rumours of the referee being reportedly being seen in the passenger's seat of the car lighting cigars with £50 notes have, as yet, been confirmed.

Strood City is running away with the league. Again.

Business as usual in the Premiership.

A tough match against the Daoists today. They're this season's surprise package and put in another strong performance. Thankfully, the Beach were able to fight back and nick a point before another long away trip to Eastern Europe in the euro league qualifiers. By a quirk of the draw, I was pitted against my second set of Macedonian opposition. Happily, three away goals puts the Beach in a strong position to advance to the group stage and protect the league coefficient..

A total lack of zany bantz? What gives?

Why does the England NT only have 19 players in the squad? What's going on there? Anyone got the inside track?

Not been a happy time for me on rocking soccer, part of me wishes i just got relegated being the 4th worse team in the league every season has sucked all enjoyment from this game, if i went down at least i have things i could achieve, pay off's or direct promotion and my team can win matches, i been playing rocking soccer less and less, and i started just clicking auto for line ups, and didn't train anyone for over 2 real life weeks.

@Natsumi - I think your team needs rebuilding:

* Your GK is getting older and, compared with other teams in the division, he has low blocking.
* You have two defenders who are 30 and will be difficult to improve.
* Your best midfielders are also getting older and will be difficult to improve
* Your midfield also has a lot of tactics and passing less than 5, in the main. This level of passing is low when I look at other teams.

You're going through the seasons of pain that a lot of teams do as they try to get better. Spending lots of money on stadium and YC upgrades means it's difficult to buy good players too. The positive news is that you are still in touch with the teams around you. You could easily finish the season in 14th. If you can stop conceding so many goals, then you could easily win a few games.

Keep the faith!

The team certainly needs some major remodelling, but it's hard to administrator that kind of change, if i change my goalie the new 1 will probably be worse for a few seasons unless i fork out 40 million plus on a goalie, the defenders I think i be healthier in i have youngsters getting closer to being first team material, midfield is my biggest problem I feel as only 1 of my younger player's is close and his not that young anymore, and well my strike-force is laughable at best.

If they do go down, and I make major changes I might not come straight back up, could spend a few seasons's in championship until I've produced m y own strong team of similar age, I need a golden age got the facilitates now 10 tg and 10 uc to make a new team just need to be patient.

With my last home game of the season, clearly I'm too weak to be in the Premiership, strong enough to be on top of the Championship.

It'll be a roller-coaster of a ride.
