Green Day was one of the best gigs I ever went to. It was at a festival and they came on early, trashed the stage, set fire to all their gear and then Billie Joe sang Time Of Your Life (Good Riddance) with a pig mask on. No band could really follow them after that. I think Robbie Williams came on next and we all threw beer at him.
I don't see anything strange in piano or violin. Some very good metal bands use them like Angizia, Haggard, My Dying Bride.
