U21 Training (or lack of) (14)

eng Lee >> pirmadienis sausis 25 - 19:33

I played a friendly yesterday against a team of U21 players that had not received any training except for special attributes, and I'm interested to know what the benefit of this could be (some of the players have been in the squad for 6 seasons).

he's deliberately keeping his players wages low

I did wonder if that might have something to do with it but wasn't sure as the players already seem to be earning some pretty good coin.

That doesn't work. Vincent made a change a long time ago that takes unspent xp into account when calculating wage increases.

But if the manager mistakenly believes it works then that would still be a reason.

Thanks Numpty - looks like the manager does mistakenly believe it.

I'm very interested to know how much unspent xp the players have after 6 seasons!

great example for it. Btw, I dont get the intention of manager here. So I guess at some point he will be a great keeper.

I doubt it. He seems to be training him as a defender. Maybe he changed his mind at some point. I guess not spending the xp makes that a bit easier.

I don't have the patience to go that long without training a player (on a side note: his wage is ridiculous).

So the idea is to hold onto to players until a certain age and then train them just before a window, while having to dish out the same wages?

Why?

I am pretty sure he trains him as defender because he wants to avoid big keeper wages. he still has big wage though but It should be higher. Seems like he does that a lot with other players.

He will probably turn him into goalkeeper at the age of 30+ when the wage starts to drop

That's an interesting point. I guess it's possible that defender wages are lower. Maybe someone knows?

But the problem with turning him into a keeper is his position experience. It won't be easy to convert that into keeper experience. He's already used 1 positional training on making him into a defender so only has 9 left.

The player already has 1400 experience points. Probably he won't need all 9 retrainings. I think 4 are enough to reach 1000 as goalkeeper. I also believe that the amount of blocking proportionally raises  a player's wage in comparison to other skills.

Yes, you're right PMK. I hadn't done the maths, but I think 4 retrainings would do it.
