Season 33 thread (114)
Yes, it's the first day of Season 33 today, even though it's still three days until the first fixture. That is, of course, unless you're 'lucky' enough to play in the early qualifying rounds of European competition.
This season, the league will be enhanced by having a World Cup winning manager competing. (Yes, I am going to go on about that constantly!) I'm hoping that Seaburn Beach will be able to stay in the top half of the league, but I suspect that might be very difficult. A very limited budget has meant that there are still a number of problem positions for the team and I can't see a quick way to fix them.
We welcome two new faces in the league this time round: Candas Djemal and Yid, who will be competing with Dragontao for the coveted prize of 'rantiest manager'. Can the young pretender unseat the undefeated champion? Only time will tell...
Post your hopes/dreams/frustrations/ramblings here and enjoy!
Good luck to all and welcome to the two new teams.
Once again congratulations to Stephen for winning the World Cup and making England the #1 national team.
This is the first season Strood City will have an all English first team and reserve team.
We will be looking to finish in the top 5 and hopefully win some games in the champions league.
The team is still developing and we have great young players coming through, a few of which will be playing a lot this season.
Have a great season everyone.
So first up... congrats to Stephen on winning the world cup! Makes a ncie change for England to actually win something!
As for my Cambridge side... another year in League 1, another year fighting against relegation. There haven't been any major signings or departures this season, but my young players have been working hard in the gym over the summer, and I'm hoping that their contributions to the first team this season will be enough to keep me up. It's going to be tough though, and with a new stadium on the horizon, now would not be a good time to go down...
Best of luck to everyone this season - may the footballing gods/match engine be with you... unless of course you're playing me!
WOW, Well done Stephen for winning the world cup with England, only just found out as been i'll and not signed on alot lately. Following in the footsteps of the "Legend" Sir Alf Ramsey. Will that now be the spur for Gareth Southgate's England to go on and win the European & World cups
Great that Sam has got the all England senior & youth squad, I'm expecting Strood to challenge Liverpool for the title maybe this or next season, someone has too
My target is simply to survive in the top League
Good luck all
Cheers
Deca
Thank you all to those who voted for me, it is a great honour to take charge of the England national team.
Stephen did an amazing job and I will try to continue his success.
The first step is qualifying for the Euros.
Good luck Sam, big Sir Stephen footsteps to follow in now, no pressure
First game of the season and my all English team do me proud a very fine 4-0 away victory against Winchester.
A clean sheet for our new keeper Staley and 2 goals a piece for the partnership of Buss and Duckworth upfront.
The fans were ecstatic to see England legend Kevin Buss wearing the Strood City shirt and grabbing a brace on his début.
Start of a new season, but same old story for Spirit Squad, the match engine cast it's evil spell of hatred on Natsumi's side who managed to throw away a 2-0 home lead thanks for a penalty in the second half, completely unfair and unreasonable result but with the season not even one day old we should expect more to come as every win turns into a draw and every draw a loss until they are in the bottom 3 once again.
((kind of tired of it to be honest, no reason why that shouldn't of been a win there team was far weaker then mine, and we were at home.. but somehow some way.. it's another bad result to kick start the season... and leave bitterness in my mouth))
Another fine victory for Strood City. A 3-0 home victory versus Bolt On Wonderbras.
England legend Kevin Buss grabs another brace while Ryan Duckworth scores his third of the season.
Alec Veares continues to impress with another two assists, bring his total to four.
Craig Staley added another clean sheet.
A couple of minor injuries were picked up during the game but they are doing fine and will be available for their next game.
A strong start to the season , the fans are hoping to keep this form for as long as possible.
Last season, my side finished with 33 goals - only relegated sides scored fewer. Two games in, and my Cambridge side still haven't managed to find the back of the net yet! However, we've got our first points on the board after a (frustrating, but probably fair) draw against Forever We Are Wolves.
Will my failure to invest in a new striker over the summer come back to bite me, or will Graaf improve quick enough to save my blushes? Only time will tell!
I'm sure put a few past me on the return leg
