Season 73 (40)

I'll start this one off, as none else seems to want to.

The era of Jaypridee is under way. Can anyone beat them this season? How many trophies will they win and perhaps most importantly, how long can they financially keep this up for?

Runners up Gothiques are focusing their efforts on facilities, but will still be competitive and will still want to qualify for those precious European spots.

Candas have a manager who knows how to win this league, but financially they have struggled and had to downgrade facilities. Can they maintain their top six spot or will they too have to go through a rebuilding period?

The legendary Seaburn only lost one league game last season and only conceded 8 goals, but still only finished fourth. They will be stronger this time and if they can find ways to win by the odd goal, then they will improve on last season's finish.

Newcastle bought well in the transfer window and their marauding Chinese fans will expect big things this season. They will be difficult to beat and will hope for silverware of some kind.

Canvey Island continue to wear the mantle of the best club never to have won a major. Don't expect that to change, but manager Alex continues to make shrewd signings and they will be looking to qualify for Europe again along with a couple of good cup runs.

The Scammonden Daoists continue to regroup and having missing out on Europe lat season will look to go one better this time. Keeper Enix will help that cause, but they could struggle to score enough goals at the other end.

Canvey Pixels continue to rebuild and this could be a long season for them. They will hope for a good cup run, and a European spot, but with a highly competitive league they might have to settle for mid table respectability.

Bolt on Wonderbras continue to improve after shrewd investment from the ever optimistic Dragontao. They have qualified for Europe before and will be in amongst that race again.

Spurs got to the cup final last season. Another visit looks unlikely, but they are difficult to beat at home and could cause a few surprises along the way.

Forever we are Wolves. Dark horses to do well in the league after some more good signings. Keep an eye on them as they push on up through the table.

Cardiff will hope that signing the world's best keeper will transform their form. They will be much harder to beat, but can they score enough goals to catapult them into the top six?

If last season's standard was high then this one promises to be even better. Good luck all and let's hope we have a strong showing in Europe too as we need to improve on our current ranking of fifth place.

Great write up.

Meanwhile in the dim and distant pub leagues, the Hornets continue to focus on their bank balance. The actuarial consultant assures me that the building programme will begin later in the season. :)

Super write up Monk, that took time and effort!

I'm not sure what's going to happen when Numpty finally opens up his wallet, will it be a cloud of moths or will we see a Man City style ascent up the league and then dominance?

Nice one Monk!

The Pixels rebuild is of the brick variety as I'm focusing on facilities - no first team players have been bought since mid-March, and that won't change this season.

My aging squad would love to finish mid-table but I expect it to be lower than that.

After a frustrating defeat to the footballing monks from the backwaters of West Yorkshire, Candas found it impossible to carry on and handed in his notice. He was unavailable for comment, but he's not expected to take on another managerial role. Not only was he one of the few managers to have lifted the league one trophy in England but the last one to do it without a 200,000 stadium. That is a statistic which will almost certainly never be replaced.  He is rumored to have retired to the outskirts of London.

Wow! Big news that - it's always a shame when a long-standing manager leaves. Has resigned from both teams so looks like he's quit altogether.

With those players and facilities he must have been in deep financial trouble playing with stadium 10. Frankly, I'm astonished that he managed to carry on for so long in the top division with his relatively meagre resources.

The new manager is a regular jumper, so he won't last long.

Whoever took over will also have to overcome the cost of infrastructure with a stadium now seating 70,000

The academies are apparently downgrading.

It must be difficult to manage this... especially since the transfer period is still far before possible sales.

The downgrades have been running for a while now, so they must be automatic downgrades from the start of the season - and you get 14 days to cancel them. I believe that the number of downgrades (2) is a measure of the size of the debt. If you start them yourself they only take 24 hours.

I'm a little surprised the downgrades don't get cancelled as part of the club reset when the manager leaves. As far as I know they didn't lose a level like the other facilities, so counter-intuitively the downgrades seem to have prevented them getting downgraded! Not a lot of point in reporting it as a bug though!

Those downgrades have finished now. It's game week 12 so it's not the end of the 14 day period. Seems rather odd that they finished 2 days after the manager left rather than at the club reset or the next overnight update.

He must have done some quick number-crunching and realised the mess he was in.......better to jump to the Vietnamese 2nd division instead.

And he's back again. I can't keep up.

Does anyone want to place bets on how long he stays?

And 4 days later he's gone. Only to be replaced by what looks like another jumper, which will probably help to kill the club off with future downgrades.

It's been a long time since I wrote anything on the forum... I thought all had given up on it. The Tricky Trees are are happy bunch getting are draw against their local rivals Ilkeston town!!! Although Ilkeston have the likes of Neymar and Mbappe their run down facilities are effefecting the team, that being said the Robbing Hoodies manager Cloughie was quoted as saying 'now look here young man if we're in the top flight I don't expect my lads to be getting changed in a shipping container and the game continuosly stopped because people wouldn't keep their dogs on the lead in the park

i do realise we were at the city ground but thought it would add to the previous comments. COYR
