I support this idea, but I would like to see another related change brought in at the same time.

What we currently see is a lot of half-time subsitutions because of the requirements to play 20 matches of at least 45 minutes to earn full xp. Players coming on for only 10 or 20 minutes earn less xp that cannot be recovered even if they play more later in the season.

It causes weaker players to be used for longer than normal. This is just silly and totally unrealistic. Using 5 substitutes would only make this problem worse.

My proposed change is to reward the total minutes that a player is on the pitch over the course of a season rather than 20 matches. Or in other words they should get xp per minute played with a ceiling of 10,000 xp.  

How much xp per minute would balance the current method? Let's assume we can use 5 subs. This would give a maximum of 500 xp to 16 players per match (8,000 xp) and the total minutes played would be 990 minutes  (90 x 11), maybe a bit more with additional time.

So that works out at 8 xp per minute (or 7 xp per minute with the current system using 3 subs). Each player would be capped at 1250 minutes to reach 10,000 xp (or c. 1429 with 3 subs).

I've included the numbers to help explain how I see it working in principle. These can be adjusted if necessary. The main issue is to reward per minutes played and have more 'normal' matches without all these half-time subs. (The U21 matches would have to be adjusted to fit.)
