Retirement of older players (360)

de Iso >> terça abril 23 - 14:17

Why are the players retiring in the middle of the season?! that's stupid. One of my GK will also retire june 5th.

The player found cheap air tickets for Thailand at that date.

I'm waiting for Numpty to point out that such a percentage of retirements taking place mid-season is not in line with the game's pursuit of realism. (And he wouldn't be wrong.)

@Joey, I was thinking about pointing out that if we want reality then outfield players should be retiring about 10 seasons younger than the keepers.

That means we should see random retirements of other players at age 28-35. Seems entirely fair.

Sounds fair enough, although I'm not sure 10 seasons seems accurate. I don't have any statistics on the matter but my estimate would be more like 5 (on average).

My goal keeper has announced his retirement at the age of 37 years and 39 weeks. He will retire on 5th June, just a few weeks past his 38th birthday. https://rockingsoccer.com/en/soccer/info/player-2287322

I expect he thinks he will just swan off to play golf now. He going to get quite a shock when he discovers my plan for him to spend the next 25 years managing my catering complex!

More seriously, while I support the removal of 60 year old keepers from the game, I do wonder about the algorithm for these younger keepers who are still in or just past their peak. My keeper will be the third 38 year old keeper to retire in the top two French leagues.

I don't need to bother myself on who retires from my squad, it's written under my name I'm retiring also.

Looking at certain older squads I foresee a massive exodus of managers in forthcoming seasons. The expiry of older players needed to be introduced more gradually.

This big retirement wave may have similar effect for some teams like this match, where home team's only adequate keeper was injured:

https://rockingsoccer.com/en/soccer/info/match-25287963

Overall Navi has been slightly better (more managed) team, their first match ended 1-1. But for Anomaalia keeper was their key player who carried whole team.

Market will be blooded by retirement-risk players and very few potentially good future keepers, the latter for breathtaking prices. All cared u21 teams will have 3 u21 keepers in rotation for hoping big money afte 6-8 seasons. But then most of them who are not ST will be cheap already.
