Season 78 (72)

eng Stephen >> quarta janeiro 24 - 22:35

Well, so long season 77, you were a blast. Guess we'll all just have to find something else to d-... Wait, what's this coming over crest of the hill? Why, it's only season 78 of course. What's it got in store for us all? Only time and the match engine will tell.

Here at Seaburn the accountant has been laughing pretty much non-stop over the end of season break. And no, not his usual mirthless laugh of the damned, but a laugh of joy and hope that the club is actually profitable. The scout has however been told to keep the manager away from the transfer list at the risk of all that hard work being undone for the cost of just one teeny-tiny credit.

The mighty Beach will have a familiar look next season, fielding essentially the same 11 that started most games. For some of the squad, hair lines might be receding, and cod liver oil supplements are served with all meals at the training ground, but they will continue to give their all for the shirt. Until Loose Women and Bargain Hunt come on and then they will have a nice sit down and a chocolate hobnob.

Some interesting transfer activity elsewhere and I think it could be a very interesting title race this season with perhaps even a brand new champion. We'll see!

I would appreciate it if someone could provide regular title race updates, as I will be focused on matters at the other end of the table. After much scientific research I've identified Invincibles City as the team I have to keep ahead of to avoid direct relegation.

My veteran players continue to embarrass the young ones on the training ground, so have rightly earned their place in the starting 11 for another season. A few young players will earn their stripes as well (particularly in defence) but will need to adjust quickly to the demands of the top flight.

The current upgrading of the youth academy wiped out my transfer budget, so there will be no last minute purchases during this window.

Good season to all

For the Gothiques Amiénois, the only objective is to maintain themselves.

A few new players in the team but no madness on the market

The level 4 training academy arrives at the end of this season (around March 4).

Afterwards, a new adventure and another way of playing will begin.

4 games played and 0 points......not quite what I had in mind when I told the lads to make this season a memorable one.

I'm suffering from an aging squad aswell! Although I should be able to invest in a few new players at the end of the season if I don't panic buy mid season! Going to be a long hard one I'm afraid! (Said the actress to the bishop :scream:)

Had to overcome the 12 men of Newcastle United today, but battled through to win 2-1. Can't remember the last time I had a man sent off and for a dive too! A disgraceful decision. I don't know what the ref was watching, but how you can call that a dive after the clear contact? As a proper football man, what more can I say? I will be lobbying the authorities for an immediate inquiry into corruption in match officiating. #thegamesgone

Some huge games loom on the horizon for the Pixels, as Arsenal, Fuchsia, Invincibles, and Sutherland are the opponents over the next week.

A season defining period perhaps?

Well after a slightly irritating loss to Seaburn, my league hopes for this year are over. Out of the cup and trailing after first leg in Europe, so my season is pretty much over!

An important win for Scammonden today against the previously unbeaten Canvey Island. And with Bakerman's run of poor recent results it's now looks like a 2 horse race at the top.

If I'm correct, this would be Scammonden's first major trophy?

There's also a real scrap at the other end with 5 or 6 clubs in contention for the play-offs.

Here's one straight out of Numpty's book (although I'm sure he has a much more in-depth tool):

In preparation for the next transfer window I created a rudimentary table/formula to calculate how much XP my players will accumulate per season and how many training sessions this equates to. Based on this result, and factoring in the age % calculation, I can predict how strong my players will be over the course of their career.

The results are in (drum roll please).....my expensively assembled U21 squad was a waste of money and will now be sold-off at a fraction of its market value.

Hopefully you'll get most of your money back @Lee.

I'm sure you know this, but the crux of the issue is the level of your training facility. There's absolutely nothing wrong with having FA1, but you'll never train any top class players with it, so there's little point in buying good youngsters unless you're trying to win the U21 cups.

It all depends how people wish to play the game.

With relatively low training facilities (say YC10 to FA2) then the only way to compete is to buy ready trained players who are already near their peak. You save a lot of money on training costs which can then be spent on transfers and wages.

I think if you're going to train your own youngsters then you really need FA 4 or better. Although with FA3 you can probably get away with buying half-trained players in their early 20s.
