European (Europa) League [season 4] (44)
best to make a new topic for this season...
So I managed to get a spot on Q1 and must say game 1 went well
facing FC Rangers, better players then us, but we managed to get a 0-0 on our away game. Now we need to get in shape for the return game and try to steal the win to make it to next round...

Just finished up my first round ties, beating Aradhippou #2 1-0 away and 1-0 at home. Onward to the second round we go!
I lost 1-2 so already end for me... had a 50-50 chance to win and tried to play a bit more offensive this time. next season we will do better, we had a full stadium so already a good thing...
The second round has been drawn and we have some of the best luck in the world. Tullamore Phoenix has drawn Fuglafjaðor, a bot team from the Faroe Islands without even a single three star player. They finished second in the Faroe Island League last season so they're not pushovers by any stretch of the imagination, but it's pretty clear that we have the better squad. Unless disaster strikes, it seems likely that Tullamore's European Adventure will continue on into the third round.
nice, good luck on it, I finally got a 3 star player and got a rookie on loan 2.55-3.9 so he will play a lot also to bad he didn't make it for Q1
The second round matchup with Fuglafjaðor went even better then I expected. The first round match in scenic Tórshavn went our way by a tally of 1-0, but the second tie in Tullamore was a complete shock. Our team is built primarily to grind out close 1-0 wins most of the time, so it was fantastic to see the boys in blue rack up a big 3-0 win in front of a completely sold out stadium.
Thus far, against both Aradhippou #2 and Fuglafjaðor, we have yet to allow a single goal. Onward we go to round 3, and probably a wake-up call as we're bound to be facing some tougher clubs from here on out.

The biggest surprize today /or if you like better in the Q2/ last years Champions League finalist FC Beawulf is knocked out by hungarian cup specialist Roxolan's. First leg in Nederland was 3-3 tie (all hungarian goals scored by supertalent Győr Gáspár) and today in Hungary the home team won 1-0. (also Győr Gáspár scored the only goal at 24th. minute) and dispite the new red card punishing rule the home team can hold the dutch team by 10 players against 11 for half of a half.
I won't be surpized, if Győr Gáspár has a 2 million Eur contract next transfer season.

my young team went out bravely in this round anyway against split united a strong experinaced one time league winning team from Croatia 2 -0 over 2 legs losing first leg 2 - 0 but in second leg scaring them heavily and impressing in a thrilling draw at least and being unlucky but still showing a small glimpse of part of the pontential my young team maybe currently the youngest in the world especially with the currently being built youth centre lv 7 17 years old that will come out of it has and we went out with dignity and represented Scotland well showing Scotland is nit weak I may be out like last year but each time I go out to a very strong team at least and my squads future if bright maybe even champions league trophy bright if it goes to plan:)
it was disappointing and unexpected for me, having to leave the cup this early. Last season the penny mostly dropped in favour of Beawulf, but not this time. The 3-3 was my first game this season and it looked pretty ok with the simulations. Guess I spent all my luck last season :)
Good luck for everyone in the tournament!

We're still going! The first match of the third round ended with a 2-0 victory at home, and then the second game was a 3-3 draw in Austria that propelled my boys on to the next round and a matchup against Óbudai TC from Hungary. I'm utterly amazed by how well we've done in this competition already, and looking at our next opponent, we may make it through this round as well.
Nice run so far MOC. I see you won the away match in the playoffs, so you may reach the group stage!
That did it! Tullamore Phoenix defeated Obudai TC 1-0 in Hungary, and then 2-0 at home in Ireland. They were a pair of fairly ugly games, but it was enough to send us on to the group stage of European League play.
Edit: Having now seen the group stage draw, we are pretty clearly the small fish in a group with three very strong teams. This may be the place where tiny Tullamore's run finally ends.

It will be a great miracle if Tullamore Phoenix can go forwards from his group ahead of FC Reinhard or SK Metalurgs and Roxolán wants to revenge the Óbuda defeat last round.
@MOC: that may be one of the toughest groups you got in. Just enjoy the games, you've got nothing to lose and who knows, maybe you will win.
Europa League is not important for me, only exp for players. My priority is national cup and league, because prize money in EL is too small. My aim is win national league and next season get in Champions League group. Money rules the world! :D
