Let Season 29 begin!

Firstly, welcome to the three newly promoted teams - Forever We Are Wolves, Tottenham Hotspur FC and Pats - well done on making it to League 2, and good luck for this season!

Next - commiserations to those teams relegated from League 1 - Gravediggers and Chelsea FC. You've both got strong teams, so you've got a good chance of bouncing back this season!

Hopefully this will finally be the year that my Cambridge team achieves promotion - we came so close last season, only missing out on away goals!

Im aiming for top 10 this season. Was happy with last season, it being my first at this level. Hard to tell from preseason as all games have been against teams from top league as i'll have to wait and see!! A reasonable cup run wouldnt go amiss either!!

I said I'd get it started...

After the sale of 9 players, Cambridge have started construction work on their level 9 stadium. The starting 11 and top youth prospects have all hung around, but a number of fringe players and U21s have moved on to new clubs.

The youth team are going to struggle this season, whilst it will be interesting to see how much damage this does to my first team in years to come...

I think im only now starting to have players come through the youth system that are good enough to make the 1st team! I find they are a v good source of income though so i dont think i could do without a youth academy. Have one striker just made it through to the starting xi and another v good prospect out on loan

My youth academy has provided me with quite a few players over the seasons - of my current team first team, 11 of them came through my youth academy, and 4/5 of them are first choice players. Even in the lower leagues, half of my team was made up of players from the youth academy.

Definitely agree that most of the players just end up being sold to raise funds for slightly better ones though!

I thought 2 red cards was bad! Had a new game engine just been released? It normally throws up freaks like this!!

@Matt Turner & @antboy18 - re: bringing through your own youth players. In my experience, this is only really a long term strategy once you have YC10. YC9 players are, on average, born a whole season after YC10 ones. That's a missed season of match experience, plus a missed season of being in a top training centre with at least one staff. Only a supertalent or players with a brilliant trait like intelligent or a combo like 'hardworking and selfish' are going to have a chance of being really useful to your team, when you take this into account. That's especially important if you're aiming to play in League 1.

Of course, there are lots of YC10 players on the market these days, so buying them is also an option.

Suffering 2nd season syndrome big time! Im not getting hammered but i just cant seem to score! Think it'll be a long hard slog this season

You're not the only one that's struggling to score - fortunately my defence seems to be doing a pretty good job!

I think i made a mistake in selling an older defender and bringing in a younger player not as good. My home form is ok but away im useless! Im going to play around with a few different formations for a few games and see what happens

... why bring on a midfielder when there's a defender on the bench...

Last 16 of the cup, a little more improvement in the league and I'll call this season a good one. Defence up there, just cant score!!

We're halfway through the season, so it's time for an update...

My Cambridge City team are 9 points clear at the top of the League. After missing out on promotion on away goals last year, could this finally be the year they achieve promotion?

Things are looking very close for the play-off spots - Chelsea, Stoke, Exeter, Yengchester, Collie Club and FC Baltica are all in with shot.

At the bottom of the table, it looks like Real Portugal, Intifada, Ipswich, Ferndown and Pats are all in danger of going down...
