The finances of growing a small club (12)

I thought it might be interesting to see the financial history of club growth. To give a clearer picture I have removed transfers and constructions costs from income and expenses and listed them separately. 

This gives a picture of what it's like trying to grow a small club from nothing.

I started playing in Season 41.

Can you also give the numbers of how high your levels of your buildings were when the starters bonus stopped? 

Just to know if i'm doing ok or not... :D

I haven't kept a record of buildings, although I may have posted some stuff in an old thread somewhere. From what I recall I think I was on Stadium 8 and TC 10 at the end of the bonus.  My priority was building the stadium and fan shop.

It's taken me a while to figure it all out but I have been able to document my construction programme to date. (Mostly using the historical construction costs.)

During my 4th season (Season 44) prior to the end of the starters' bonus we built the following:

TC 10, YC 8, Catering 7, Stadium 8 and Fan Shop 8. (Office 7 was started  just before the bonus ended in the first few days of Season 45.)

So the facilities at the end of the bonus were:

  • Training complex 10
  • Stadium 8
  • Scout's office 7
  • Fan Shop 8
  • Youth centre 8
  • Catering 7
  • Office 6 (Upgrading)
  • Health Centre 7

These are the seasons when the other buildings were paid for, but not necessarily completed.     

  • S45 - Office 7, Catering 8, Scout 8 & Museum 1-2
  • S46 - Museum 3-15 
  • S47 - Stadium 9 & Fan Shop 9
  • S48 - Catering 9, Health Centre 8 & Scout 9-10
  • S49 - Museum 16-17 & Stadium 10  
  • S50 - (nothing due to building Stadium 10) - 
  • S51 - Fan shop 10, Catering 10 & Office 8
  • S52 - Office 9 & YC 9
  • S53 - YC 10
  • S54 - FA 1

One more question abortus your stadium progress... die you play against all human teams (with more fanbase) then you? So you could progress your stadium rapidly? 

In my situation there are like 5 or 6 human teams with more fanbase then me... so i need to wait until i have 4 of 5 games that my stadium is sold out.... against bots it's not so easy...

Almost ready for upgrade to lvl 4..  but i think that my progression might get stoppen because of lack of human players in my division....

So i would need to promote to a higher league... and that's another tactical approach...

I've essentially played all my matches aginst bot teams. Even the few real managers that start new clubs in my league have very low popularity so it makes no difference. 

The stadium attendances came from aggressively building my own fan base. For instance, popularity at the end of the starters' bonus was a little over 1.5 million, which gives roughly 34,000 attendance against bots (including stadium staff and 20% live attendance.) Based on current growth trends I anticipate being able to fill Stadium 10 against bots in a little under 2 seasons.

Just to add that there are 2 key aspects of the starters ' bonus. You can ignore the double stadium income because it's hardly worth anything with a small stadium.  

But the 50% buidling speed and the double popularity are what counts. I tried to make the most of both of them. In addition, the way Vincent has coded the double popularity bonus it's actually worth more then double, maybe 3x. With Fan shop 8 and the 'double' popularity bonus I recall we added a little over 500,000 popularity during the final season of the bonus.

Yeah i'm trying to focus on stadium and fanshop to.... 

But if i can't upgrade stadium i upgrade something else... just to constantly be building something and not waiting and doing nothing

When I started my second team, I took the goal to start with TC10 at least on starter bonus period and stadium as far as possible. I let YC somewhere on level 4-6 longer time and bought in quite young squad to play in first team, replacing players who fell out from first team. As they were young, I earned always some profit after selling them and could afford better and better young players when TC was ready.
