Us national team (653)
I do want another chance at the world cup, but I also don't want to be a hog.
I would like to open this discussion to anyone who may want to also be the national team manager. I do enjoy the job but I also do not want to be selfish. Anyone who might be interested, please include your thoughts here.

Personally I think you should run the team again even if others are interested. Yes this is just a game but the NT manager position for one of the larger countries should be a reward for prior club or NT success in my opinion. You have done a good job & are still interested so I would like to see you keep it.
If anyone really wants to run a NT it isn't overly difficult to grab a player on a shortlist for one of the countries that always goes to random mangers. For example this will be the first time in the last 3 voting cycles that Chile hasn't had random manager & it took opening it up to anyone on the shortlist for it to happen.
Just my thoughts

John,
I appreciate your choice to turn this into a discussion. I'm not currently interested in the job, but have a couple of thoughts.
I have no problem with any of our top managers coaching the National Team. John D., Valentine and Ulysses are obvious choices, all have coached the team before. I would eventually love to coach the team, but I'm not currently qualified. After these three I think that based on team performance, Cooper (Terriers) has probably done the most to earn a chance.
I would feel good about any of these four. I also see a benefit to John taking the team through the North American tournament after making it through qualifying.
Just my 2 cents.

I don't mind running it again, in fact I would like to get another shot at the world cup.
As a manager, my three priorities are always winning tourneys, getting xp for up and coming talents, and of course, playing players who play on us league teams if possible.
I will keep this discussion open for a few days before we make a collective decision on this. I do recommend people like cdowne try and manage a non us team in the mean time to get some international managing experience under your belts.

I appreciate being in this conversation. I was manager for the British Virgin Islands (go Nature Boyz [yes, that is really their team nickname {really}]). I'm not looking for the extra time commitment right now, and wouldn't win anyway. NT manager for US is going to be a tough job, as smaller countries allow players to start getting NT experience sooner, and end up making better players. I thought Riverhounds manager did a great job, and have no problem with John or any other top American manager with NT experience leading the squad.
I think there are a handful of experienced managers beyond the ones mentioned who could do a good job with the team, though I'll let them choose to post if they want to. I suppose it is limited to managers with VIP, though I would encourage managers without VIP to at least be active in the national team's forums as far as suggesting players, strategies, and strategies to improve the quality of the team.
I think I will be the manager for 1 more season if thats agreeable. There is a possibility that I will go 2 more.
I will however, state at this point, that if there are people who want to run the US team, be prepared to run it after that. I will not extend my tenure as NT coach past 4 terms as long as someone wants it.

Looks like I am running against a couple non usa managers. Would appreciate the support of you guys on the vote, unless of course you'd rather have a non us player with a non us team handling our Fate :).
A problem with the national team election is that being the first to sign up tends to deter other managers from signing up, with the possible exception of the current manager signing up for another term. This is probably what leads to some of the national teams ending up with less experienced managers that don't really pay attention to their teams.
I just can't believe the bad luck we had in the na international tourney.
Predictions had me blowing out teams 3-0 or worse and all we managed was 3 ties.
So disappointed right now.

US isn't the only team that was unlicky. John, if it makes you feel better China and The Netherlands are out of the Asian and European championships.
See, thats significant.
You've got my vote. Although, USA with a German manager... no, that could never work ;)
Never :)
