Season 47 (22)
A 1-time abberation or a sign of things to come?
The season has been fairly predictable so far until today's 1-1 draw between powerhouse Riverhounds and League 2 newcomer Simi Valley. The squad strength gap of 15.8 vs. 11.45 shows just how random the match engine can be for any given match.
This result is even more surprising given that Bemsissou, the Riverhounds forward with over 7.3 effective dueling (7.07 dueling plus 0.25 winger bonus - a clever combo that also includes creative and longshots), scores both goals including a crazy own goal. Seems like the rare Creative penalty reared it's ugly head at the most unlucky time.
"So you are saying there is a chance?"
The Sidney Town Football Club is happy to have the Riverhounds drop points. We're looking for revenge for last season.
I'm still fighting in League 2! We are improving year-over-year and my personal opinion is that we'll end up in the promotion playoff come the end of this season! I hope to see you all at DLR stadium in the very near future!
Good luck ranks!
We’re playing at the Riverhounds today, and as the team is a little cash strapped, we’re looking for a good deal on a rental bus. The bus should have strong windows, and preferably the owner wouldn’t mind significant denting to the side panels. Parking break is a strict requirement!
Park that bus.
Sidney Town will fund any legitimate short term plan to steal points from Riverhounds.
Rather important result today in the title race; Sidney beats the Hounds 2-0.
Its be an eventful few days for the Sidney Town Footbal Club and associated teams. Sidney Town management complained to a National Team manager about overusing players, we won the U21 cup, advanced to the Champions League semi-final as well as domestic cup final, and lost to the Riverhounds. We now try to avoid another late season disappointment while seeking another league title. Additionally, our Costa Rican satellite clube won the domestic cup on PKs.
Sidney Town will now try to win the cup, advance to the Champions League final and win the final 8 league matches. Winning out is likely the only way of staying ahead of Riverhounds.
It's interesting the Riverhounds have FC Arsenal on the road in Game 38 this season. Last season, FC Arsenal prevented Sidney Town from winning the cup on the last day. Wonder if the same will hold true this season for the Hounds? It looks like they have the easier schedule from now until then compared to Sidney Town.
It looks like the strength of schedule has shifted between sidney town and riverhounds. Sidney's remaining opponents have 197 points on the season. Riverhounds opponents have 239. Sidney town does have the additional challenge of both the cup and champions league final. I wouldn't trade these opportunities, but they will deplete my players and make at least one league match more difficult.
This is interesting, I should have tried my best earlier this season. It seems the Riverhounds needs more luck this season, my finger has crossed, let’s see what would happen.
A few random thoughts:
Three matches left and I need three wins.
valentine's schedule is still slightly more difficult with his remaining oponents scoring 162 points. Mine scoring 141.
I got through the "extra matches" without injury or dropping points. Though, I got scortched in the Champions League final.
Teams have to be nearly perfect to win this league. It's amazing.
Finaly thought, sad to see Bjorn get removed from his team. I wish that the gme was able to keep a higher percentage of players.
One more gameday, guys :D
Congratulations on being the league champ, cdowne!
On a side note, Mike and Ulysses are tied for 10th place. When do we ever see a standings tie at the end of the season? Crazy stuff
Thanks Peter. Feels good to not blow it on the last day again.
Congrats on winning the second league title, cdowne! You really did a good job managing your club. It's so fun being an underdog again since season 4. I know you probably would win several more titles in the next few seasons, but I would try my best stopping you (and trying not to buy elite players) :)
A few other thoughts:
I'm producing more level 15 American players with the attribute "Patriotic", hopefully, USA could dominate the World Cup someday.
I'm trying to have all my players with "loyal" in case of huge salary costs in the future.
I keep telling myself not to buy any players since the market is obviously suffering deflation.
