Season 43 (61)
A new season begins...
Seaburn Beach has been very active in the transfer market during the window, buying or selling a total of 17 players. Many players have left the club with manager Stephen seemingly focusing on a smaller core of players. He explained his strategy in a press conference before the Super Cup:
"Basically, we need money to make sure we can build facilities and bring in quality players. That meant that a lot of players have had to leave. The squad had become very bloated and it was time for some of the fringe players to move on.
"Trimming the squad meant that we could sign a quality youngster like Micah Tustin. He's a player that we've kept a close eye on since he came through the youth setup at Spirit Squad under the expert tutelage of Natsumi. Believe me Micah has told us some stories about Natsumi - there's a great one involving a large bottle of vodka, a donkey and... I've said too much. But it's obvious the lad has a lot of respect for her too.
Yes, we paid a lot of money and ideally, the price would have been lower but the opportunity to sign him was one we could not pass up. The coaching team are looking at a strategy to make the most of his skills and we hope that the top notch training facilities here at the Beachwill help him develop into a world class player for Seaburn and eventually England."
The Super Cup was a tedious affair, ending 0-0. Seaburn won the resulting penalty shootout, finally ending a terrible run of Super Cup shootout defeats.
Good luck to all!
I thought I read somewhere that newly promoted teams get a 10-point start - is that true!?
Forgot to show up for Opening game of season or even set a starting 11, I make such a good role model :P
Beat a 3-5-2. Won't stay top for long. Top half a reasonable aim.
What's everyone else going for (Stephen will stroll to the title I'm sure)?
Well If I was a gambler, I'd wager we'd finish 7th, may sound alittle high for our usual mid table stick, but I think a couple results didn't go our way that could of last season and we finished 7th before, and probably should be aimming for a top 5 realistically, our reverses aren't to far behind our best 11 now and the youths i've had in first team for a few seasons now are also at the level where having them on the field won't hinder the team to greatly, only rela issue we may find is goal scoring as cantona is unlikely at his age to make it top scorer 4 seasons in a row. Barring our goalie getting injured for a lengthy spell we should be able to field a strong team in every match regardless of how I like to rotate with plenty of back up in most roles.
Okay I honestly have no idea how I lost against this piece of s**t Andorran team. Even more surprised how I didn't score against such a weak defence and a keeper.
I'm already no longer interested in club results this season. Just want to do well with England NT.
Edit: I mean fu**ing Christ man he scored two goals and his first striker is 9.5 and the second is 8.5.
His team isn't that bad. One of his strikers has tournament player and the other has a youth bonus. He had double the chances you had, so it doesn't immediately feel like it was a fluke.
But the Match Analysis told a completely different story.
Edit: I go through thankfully. Id be honestly embarrased if I went out.
Well done, Denis. Juggers look like they should get through later on too.
Nicely done lad's I want another crack at europe myself, our maiden vouyage was a disarster and we've not reached those heights again, early days but so far so good this season.
Well - don't count on me in the Champions League - drawn against a team rated 1.10 higher, so down to the Europa playoffs I think...
Bakerman it should still be okay if we all get into Europa League Group Stages. Personally I think I will get knocked out in Playoffs but if Im lucky we will see.
Didnt set a lineup today and won an away game 3-2 against a stronger team. Maybe I should just leave the tactics to my assistant.
Edit: Omg I play a team from my country in EL lol.
If being in a higher division wasn't going to be hard enough, I've now conceded an own goal in my last 2 games - need to train my defenders on directional awareness!
Now it's 3 own goals in consecutive games - fortunately I got stuffed 4:1, so it didn't make a difference.
