Season 53 (18)
With a very competitive Season 52 behind us and a strong performance by Riverhouds so far (not including the Club World Cup, we were eliminated early), we will see what Season 53 brings. Hopefully, everyone has a successful season!
Sorry if this bothers you big boys up in League 1, but League 2 seems dead and I want to talk about successes and failures with others. FC Wichita had it's most successful season to date ending up 8th in League 2. Our hopes where to just stay up but several road draws and home wins against better teams appeared out of thin air. Alot of it was thanks to three great loanees we were able to secure. This season luck didn't go our way, we still got some good guys just not to level to help us progress. We made a few signings of youth players that hopefully transition to our first team in the next 5 seasons. We have a ways to go in terms of club facilities but best case senario we become a floater team between league 1 and 2 in the next ten season. Goals this season are to remain in the top half of League 2 and keep on improving. Good luck to all this season!!
In my opinion, the more chatter the better. welcome to the chat, Kratos.
It looks like Riverhouds has positioned themselves to take the legue this year. I fear a 3-peat by Sidney Town is unlikely. I'm really aiming for a top 2 finish in the Champions league.
I failed to sell any of the 5 players I tried to sell over the last transfer window for even a quarter of their market value. Now I don't have any room to sign new players from my youth academy.
@ Ulysses - it was an intersting transfer window as the market supply far exceeded the market demand for "average" high end $500M value players. This has really driven transfer prices down for awhile now. The teams that want to buy these guys are often looking for $ to upgrade facilities while the teams that can afford them already have similar players in their pipeline. This dynamic has created a pretty brutal high end player market with no end in sight it seems.
Overall, I was able to net ~$400M this window as I unloaded several players (1 over $100M, 1 over $200M) but also added a 23yr old forward with 6.35 talent. That said, I still have a lot more players I want to unload as I'm looking to get enough $ for TA4 as well as begin to promote my YA4 playes to the main squad. I'm expecting a 10 - 13th place finish.
@Kratos - absolutely welcome to the chat. You may surprise yourself as there has been a slow attrition in the game so if you have patience and play your cards right then you may likely end up in League 1 permanently before you know it. You're absolutely right on the loan players being key.
Unfortunate cup loss for my team having been drawn against a level 1 team pretty early. Seems the draws were more favorable when we were in Level 3. We were fortunate to hold them to extra time and eventually penalties. That missed penalty before the end of regular time really hurt. So much for having the striker with (tournament player) take it. Maybe should have scored in extra time with them having two red cards at that point but as we all know pens can be very cruel, especially when your penalty takers are the goalie, and two defenders.
Just curious if anyone else thinks the final result is sketchy I feel like we should have been able to do something up two players. I know the match engine isnt perfect but man it was a tough loss to swallow.
I think that while it is frustrating to lose in penalities when you're up 2 men, Lansing played much better. Wichita only completed 77% of passes compared to 94%. Also, Lansing won more tackles, 17-8.
Lansing lost 2 midfielders to red cards. I would have been more frustrated if they lost defenders. Additionally, their DM isn't really a DM. So, losing those midfielders wasn't really going to increase your chances of scoring.
Lansing's keeper is much stronger and has penalty stopper.
It is ok to have keepers and defenders take PKs. They use their best trainable skill. from help: "If the penalty is part of a penalty shoot-out to decide a tied match then a player can also use his blocking, dueling or passing skill (minus 0.75 ball) instead of their scoring skill."
I didn't really take the time to check the state of the market, but that's pretty much what I assumed. It doesn't help that I missed two days and had to restart from the original price. I've been trying to sell two of those players for multiple transfer windows. At this point, I might just keep them as reserves and retire them as staff when possible.
I also had no luck selling a 17 year old that came from my current facilities.
Glad that the Riverhounds sold Taglba who is a beast, but disappointed he ended up in Costa Rica where he will cause problems for my 2nd team....it's been that type of season!
Hi Mike, I'm also disappointed that the only buyer is from North America, with Taglba in his hand, that team has a chance to win the North American Championship title.
He got 3 goals against my second team in the Costa Rican cup.
Maybe my long term approach will eventually overcome a relatively short term purchase
Well it looks like I'll finally have an entry on the Stats of the Past Seasons post... Too bad it'll be for Own Goals. And by probably the second best player I've ever had, too.
Surprised to beat Riverhounds in the cup tournament. They smoked me a few times already this season. So this was certainly a surprising win for us.
Congrats Cdowne, you deserve it! And yes, my goalkeeper picked up an injury at 16 min, which probably led to the result.
I know I still have one more match to go before the Champion League final. But looking at Taglba's phenomenal performance recently, I do feel I made a big mistake by selling an nuclear bomb to my enemy.
Congratulations to polar bear council on taking the cup.
This is the best my team has been so its a little disappointing to finish this season without a trophy. Oh well.
