Season 80 (59)
Just to comment on DAFKE's keeper, Durrance.
https://rockingsoccer.com/en/soccer/info/player-1315040
As you can see his wage was a little under £11 million per week. These are my own observations and not from his manager.
After buying the player, for what he probably thought was a bargain price, he found that the wages were unsustainable and tried to sell him on many occasions, but there were no buyers. He then de-trained the player to reduce the wages which came down slowly (10% per season), so when the changes kicked in and he announced his retirement he had a large amount of unspent xp. From memory he had a star value of around 40+ and his wage was £5+ million.
Given that the player was retiring then he obviously decided to spend all the accumulated xp for one final season. The star value rocketed to 78.00 and the wages doubled. That's the maximum possible increase, so the 'correct' wage would have been much higher and club's finances would eventually have been crippled.
In short, the fact that DAFKE won the Champions League was a direct consequence of the changes and almost certainly would not have happened without his impending retirement.
Durrance is, of course, magnificent in all staff roles, having 10 in every aspect apart from catering, where he is only 9. Apparently he has a tendency to overcook the chips.
That's too kind. Gordon Ramsay reckons he's only a 1 at Catering.
In fairness its another byrpoduct of the game rules and will sort itself out in the next 2 or 3 seasons - surely it makes more sense than teams having unbeatable 110 year old goalkeepers which is where we seemed to be heading previously...
Oh - and BTW Monk, I outscored you :)
@BakerMan
"Only on the pitch." is what I want to reply, but in truth I suspect you outscored me off it too 😃 luring the ladies in with your tasty pastries.
If the standard doesn't improve with keepers then I'm going to see if I can get my whole squad to score at least one goal each. If that's not in the missions then it should be!
How do you know about my tasty pastries!
The keeper thing has added an interesting twist - I got lucky in that I had been nurturing my GK from youth squad and he hit his prime just as others had forced retirements. At 34 he should be good for a fair few seasons yet, I'm just trying to work out the best time and the best age to buy for the future...
Sixth place for my lot and it's all jam tomorrow on the Beach. Happy to have the FA5 up and running and some nice young players on the books, but we're miles off competing at the top again.
The GK retirements came at a bad time for the club's finances but overall it's best for the game even if it does mean a bit of short term pain for the yellow and green army.
Congratulations to Bakerman, a real steamroller this season!
Liverpool happy with 12th place, we finally get out of the play-out zone, too bad Burgandine's upcoming retirement which forces us to go on the market in search of a new goalkeeper...

That beautiful feeling when someone finally bids on a player that has been on the market for 5 days.
Day 6 for me @Lee. It's been a long old slog!
@Stephen Rob comes back to Liverpool ;)
I had second thoughts about selling him because the fee was lower than I wanted. But I also need the squad space and I brought in a Spanish GK who is closer to being usable for me.
Rippon is definitely not under any orders to let plenty in against the Beach in all our future encounters...
