Season 59 (65)
As of today, the start of Season 59, England have lost a level and have been reduced to a total of 160 clubs.
In the past England had 6 levels but are now down to 4. This is a result of a gradually declining game and user base.
There will be a small side-effect of everyone receiving slightly less TV money and sponsorship.
With fewer teams the cup has also been reformatted, although this largely won't affect the level 1 clubs.
The Cup Format is now:
Round 1
104 teams (80 from level 4 and 24 from level 3) with 52 matches.
Round 2
44 teams (top 16 from level 3, 20 from level 2 and bottom 8 from level 1) have a bye to round 2, making 96 teams and 48 matches.
Round 3
8 teams (from level 1) have a bye to round 3, making 56 teams and 28 matches.
Round 4
The top 4 level 1 teams have a bye to round 4 and join the 28 teams from round 3 making this the round of 32.
Thanks for the update Numpty - are you also in charge of game development? If so, there are a few suggestions to keep you busy! :)
Not exactly ideal. Now new users come up against strong teams much sooner than they would otherwise if they started in level 5.
Oh well, not much we can do about it, unless we each invite one person to the game and they in turn each invite two people and they invite three people each and... Well, you get the idea. Oh and I forgot to mention that those users will be forced at gunpoint to stay, play and have fun :)
On to season 59 we go. Seaburn has been attempting to sell almost everyone. In principle this is an endeavour to fund the ludicrous wage demands both present and future of some players. In practice, it's an embarrassing ritual of dropping the price every 24 hours until I have developed an RSI.
The club has finally managed to drum up some interest in various legends, starlets and ne'er-do-wells. It's not the riches hoped for, but it is better than nothing.
Seaburn will be shooting for another title this season and trying not to embarrass themselves in the CL...
Hey y'all! I'm back. Hopefully I can stay up for longer this time.
Welcome back! A well-deserved return following your success in League 2 last season :)
We have lost four league winning clubs following the reorganisation of the leagues. Reading City (Red City Juggers), Strood City, Nilehorses United and Gloucester all ended up being culled following the removal of tier 5. Sad times. Three of these clubs were mainstays in the top flight for a long time.
Yes, not ideal losing tier 5. We were mainstays of tier 5 for a long time and probably played in every group. :)
It also means there are far fewer bot teams to buy players from the farm.
I'm all for @Stephen's pyramid scheme where we get a load of users to fill up level 4 and that will re-create level 5.
As for this season, we've got the team to potentially get promoted. But don't want to go up at this stage and spend a load more money on buyng players.
What to do ...?
Following the Covid, UEFA has decided to stop the championships and keep the current ranking: Les Gothiques Aminénois are therefore Champion ...
Well, all the money has gone on a variety of experienced and loan players (plus a youth keeper who I think will be a future star). I now get to see if it was money well spent!
Loads of goals so far this season! Wonder why all of a sudden?
3 wins in a row??? What's happening?? Where am I?? I feel faint.....must....sit....down.
The League has announced a compensation scheme for anyone affected by Lee's nosebleeds. Send your laundry receipts to Canvey Pixels.
Not sure if it's a coincidence but my vertigo has eased following a sobering defeat by Aylesbury (helped by 2 own goals by the same player - he must have had a dizzy spell).
In other news: Seaburn only drew today (and failed to score), which sent holidaymakers running screaming with shock into the frigid North Sea.
Looking promising on the European front this season - everyone through to the group stages (Melchester will either be Champions League or Europa). Special congrats to Cardiff who came through a tough draw in the playoffs.
In terms of goals this season, all I can say is that we've gone a bit more attacking and finally that supertalent striker is now old enough that the scoring rate is going up and up . Still won't be enough to catch Seaburn unless our kidnap plan on Addo comes to fruition...
See you soon in European Group Bakerman with my first Team Les Licornes Blanches
Good luck to teams in Europe
The way things are going, even my lot might have a chance of Europe next season! Plenty of time for that to change so those chickens will remain uncounted just yet.
