Season 82 (45)
Well, here we are, season 82. Everyone present and correc.... oh, wait a minute, no Bakerman of course. He's embarked on an epic challenge of building up two new clubs. A sad loss to League of England fans but it opens the door for someone else to make it to the top of the pile.
I think the Abbot's men will be extremely tough to stop this season. To be honest, I'd have had them as favourites even without Bakerman's shock departure. That level of shrewd investment is making the Daoists irresistible.
Elsewhere in the league, Seaburn continues the slow rebuild. Some of the players from this interim period are reaching the end of their careers. Sales - some planned, some incredibly lucky - have raised enough money to keep the Beach's construction teams from making endless sandcastles and museum levels. It looks like Seaburn's planners have ignored the warnings and are building their YA4 on an ancient accountant burial ground. There is talk of strange noises in the night which resemble the clicking of abacuses and there was the ledger found in the ground with its prophecy of financial doom etched into it. Sceptics say this is hog wash and point to the existence of the abacus testing facility next door to the construction site as the source of the sounds. They also argue that the ledger will have come from the old factory that went bankrupt and was pulled down to make way for the Beach's YA4.
Oxford United has left us and the game after a truly remarkable season of failing to muster any points at all. This feat can of course never be beaten and I hope no one is planning to match it!
Enjoy the season everyone. I hope the last few days of the transfer window are kind to you.
I've been busy spending my pocket money on swee......sorry, had a flashback then.
What I meant to say is I spent the club's hard-earned money on bolstering the squad for the upcoming triple challenge (league, cup, Europe) that will no doubt cause some selection headaches and frustrations.
I would like to challenge for top 6 again but this will be dependent on how well my aging players hold up over the grinding slog to come.
I didn't see that coming with @Bakerman. *Wow*
3 injuries in one match with a combined healing cost of £36 million, including my two best midfielders. :(
Ouch!
We have, for once, had a good transfer window. The whole squad looks pretty solid, with defence and attack stronger than last year, but if I keep forgetting to set orders it'll all be wasted...
...or if my players get injured by half time (and a DM replaces a defender). Still, wasn't much chance of beating the Daoists in that one.
@Dragontao: classic stuff. Even a short injury on those top level players is millions to heal. Probably why I mostly let my players enjoy some quality time with their thoughts down the health centre these days when they're injured...
I just wish I didn't have to pay their extortionate wages while they're sunning themselves.😂
I'm tempted to try and find a new physio, someone with incredibly dull stories and bad jokes to try and hurry along their rehabilitation.
The Monks are still basking in the glory of a cup final upset win on home soil against Jaypridee at the end of last season. We are hoping to add to our three majors this season and hopefully get to the last 8 of the CL for the first time. The Canvey Pixels have made a great start though and if they can get another win at home against us in the league in a few days then they will take some stopping, but the Monks seem to be scoring freely, despite our slip up against LGA. It promises tho be another great season with over 100 points needed for the title. Good luck all!
Looks like this may be a season too far for my OAP squad! I've gambled and not bought anyone, hoping I'd have enough this season so I could save enough for next level training facility! 🤬
I guess it's relegation and a total rebuild, playing youth players next season!
A bit early to write off the season after only eight games just one point behind the 19th place team, I'd have thought.
All you need to do it try and get the best out of that squad in the first half of the season and then see where you are in the midseason window and whether it's worth investing or not. Maybe it is worth going down to fund the FA3? Or maybe you'll see some bargains on the market who can help you both right now and for a while afterwards too?
So there will be 3 teams in the Champions League
My team (LGA) has passed round 3 of qualifying and the play-off round
And 3 teams too in Européean Cup
==> That's good for England with 6 teams engaged
Injuries haven't helped tbh! I lost 2 of my 3 best players for the games I'd have hoped to have won. If I go down then so be it, but L2 doesn't look that hard so I'd like to think I'd at least make the playoffs.
What a bizarre season this is. A comprehensive 3-1 defeat to the Hoodies yesterday, yet the same players who played as if in clown shoes in that match turn up today and beat the Pixels. 🤷♂️
