Newbie Tips Thread (8)

eng Kezza >> wednesday september 14 - 20:35, Edited thursday september 15 - 20:18
I get quite a lot of requests from new players for advice and instead of writing it all out over and over I've decided to use this thread so I can just email a link to this.

Things to bear in mind:

- These are all my methods and I not an expert, but these are more designed for the newbie manager.

- You league 1 guys are obviously doing ok and don't need this advice so you can ignore! (THIS IS NOT AIMED AT LEAGUE 1 MANAGERS) ;-)

ps. I never get annoyed helping people.. I just wanted to put everything in one place to make life easier for me :o)

TRAINING ADVICE
---------------------------

You have to understand that different people have different opinions and not everyone builds their players in the same way, but.. A very rough guide (based on my preferences):

When it comes to basic training:

- Central defenders (both CB & DCB) need dueling, blocking and tactics.
- LB/RB needs Dueling and tactics.
- Keeper needs Blocking, passing (around 1.5ish) & Tactics (around 1.5ish)
- DCM needs Passing/Dueling & Tactics.
- AM needs Passing, Dueling (around 1.5ish) & Tactics.
- ML/MR needs Passing, Dueling (around 1.5ish) & Tactics.
- RF/LF needs Scoring, Tactics (no more than 1.5), Dueling (no more than 1.5)

When it comes to Power/Speed:

GK: Needs to have speed as high as possible
ALL DEFENDERS: Need to have power at a minimum of 4 (ideally over 5)
ALL MIDFIELDERS: Need to have power as high as possible
ALL FORWARDS: Need Power & Speed as high as possible

When it comes to Special Attributes:

- Central defenders (both CB & DCB): Correct
- LB/RB: Man Marker & Winger
- Keeper: Penalty Stopper/Setting Walls
- DCM: Man Marker & Correct
- AM: Playmaker
- ML/MR: Playmaker OR Winger
- 1 of your midfielder should have: Set Piece Specialist
- ALL FORWARDS: Long Shots & Sharpshooter

*****I am happy to explain my reasoning if any questions*****

When it comes to Tactics:

When it comes to Tactics you should read this (although ignore for Keepers and Forwards as Vincent has publicly stated 1.5 is plenty for these positions):

""""""""Tactics is a special skill. It does not directly make your players stronger but it makes them take smarter decisions.

A player with high tactics moves later and acts sooner than a player with low tactics. This means he can move after other players have already revealed where they went and can shoot, pass or tackle before anyone else can.

Of course, this doesn't help much if they then make a mistake. It also doesn't help to have tactics twice as high as your opponents, it just needs to be higher. Take a look at your strongest league opponent to see how much tactics their players have."""""""""

FACILITIES
-----------------

* Always upgrade something (avoid Museum above level 1 until you have maxed out everything else)

Stadium
------------
Upgrade Stadium first whenever you can. You should then immediately upgrade Fanshop to the same level and catering to one level under

Training Centre
---------------------
I would also keep upgrading your training centre (when your not able to upgrade Stadium).

Health Centre
-------------------
You only need to upgrade the Health centre when your training centre is 3 levels ahead.

Youth Centre
------------------
Youth Centre is probably the next important as this will be your main source of income (selling your young players), until your stadium reaches a much higher level

Other tips for a newbie manager to help you get started:

* Loan in 3 players as this is a cheap way of improving your team

* Loan out as many fringe players as possible (especially youngsters) as these players will later turn into free money

* Always have a plan.. I have a plan for the next 6 transfer windows. You should plan to maybe sell a batch of players each window to raise enough to buy 1 or 2 better players each time who will improve your team

* My "Plan" is not just restricted to transfers. I also have a 3-4yr special training plan & 3-4yr line up plan.. It makes a difference to be fully prepared and you can quickly spot future problems and rectify them well before the season starts

* Others may disagree, but the most effective tactic in matches is 5-3-2

* Get 2 staff in the Training centre ASAP as they bring the most benefits and will be a huge help in training

* Staff-wise I would focus next on Youth Centre & Fanshop before you look to staff the other areas

What a really nice thing to do for a very experienced top manager to be giving out tips based on experience. It's really decent to see this aspect in the game.

With me struggling there are certainly a few things that I'll take on board

top man, lot's of respect
