I hope to keep it up, but with so many goals the reports tend to get long...

Cambuur had a great start of the season. The talented squad has a good mix of experience and youtgfull exuberance. With a fresh new manager, the team started the season with a hardfought victory on FC Veenendaal (2-1). This proved to be the start of a strong series of games. The second match, home against FC Swaggerboys, was a walk over: 5-0. It wasn't untill the ninth game that Cambuur had to leave the field in defeat. The away match against FC Houten was lost 2-1.

League, round 16
FC Amersfoort - Cambuur 3-4 (1-1)
Again an away game for Cambuur. This time FC Amersfoort, the bottom team in the league, was our opponent. At the end of the transferperiod Cambuur showed up in a slightly different line up. Defender Huib Mijsen moved to Net Niet Werk (league 3.2) where we wish him all the best. A new player, the talented Indian defender Aparna Chidambaram, replaced him.

Cambuur played in an unusal 4-4-2 line up. Star player and international Alan Kuyt was given some rest after an exhausting series of games. Fortunately our Nigerian international Adofo Kinte had recovered from his injury.

Cambuur started the game well, resulting in a corner in the second minute. The game went back and forth untill in the 22nd minute Cornelis Nobel scored his 16th goal of the season.

FC Amersfoort equalized in the 38th minute through Vincent Gijsbrechts after sloppy defending. The score remained 1-1 untill half time.

The second half started with a flaming shot from Phillippe Kamerling, that left goalkeeper Jiten Seri without a chance: 1-2. Again FC Amersfoort showed resilience; Ralph van Duyne equalized only five minutes later.

Cambuur went back on the offensive and took the lead again. Cornelis Nobel scored his second game of the match after an assist from Guus Chaerels.

FC Amersfoort did not give up, and was rewarded with an equalizer for the third time. Martin Krap was unlucky to deflect a shot from Ralph van Duyne into his own goal. FC Amersfoort pushed on for a lead, but the Cambuur goalkeeper did not let any of the attempts of the home team pass.

It was a joyfull moment when Martin Krap was able to undo the damage done by his own goal. In the 77th minute he gave Cambuur another lead after a supurb corner from Guus Chaerels. This fourth goal proved to much for the home team. Cambuurs lead was not challenged in the remainder of the match.

Cambuur extended its lead to 9 points, FC Zwijndrecht lost at FC swaggerboys and SV Almere drew away to Fc Wouter. Cambuurs next match is away to Fc Wouter.

League, round 17
Fc Wouter - Cambuur 1-2 (1-1)
Today the fourth away game in a row. This time the opponent was Fc Wouter; a team with a strong home record. The second and third ranked teams in the league didn't win in here in Zeist.

Cambuur had a good start of the game. The first good attacking effort immediately lead the a goal: Cornelis Nobel scored in the 7th minute.
Cambuur continued strong; the next 20 orso minutes the game was played almost completely before the goal of Fc Wouter. But Cambuur's midfielders failed to give a good assist that would have allowed a forward to double the score.

In a quick break in the 25th minute Alexander Buijten equalized for Fc Wouter. It was their first attempt to pass Milunović and it was succesfull. The remainder of the first half was a bit tame; only shots on goal were recorded for Cambuur. It wasn't untill the 76th minute that Cambuur scored; Cornelis Nobel gave Cambuur a much deserved lead.

This lead was never in danger. Fc Wouter managed to fire only one shot at the Cambuur goal. Henry van der Vlucht, the goalkeeper from Fc Wouter, managed to prevent Cambuur from taking a bigger lead. In particular Phillippe Kamerling saw many attemps bloked by Van der Vlucht.

As the other top teams dropped points, Cambuurs lead increased to 12 points. The next match is at home against second ranked SV Almere.

League, round 18
Cambuur - SV Almere 3-1 (2-0)
Cambuur started the second half or the season with a match against the number two team in the league: SV Almere. In the away game Cambuur had handed Almere its only home defeat of the season so far, so they came for revenge.

The home team started strong, immediately putting pressure on the guests. A quick corner led to nothing, but in the second goal attempt Cornelis Nobel showed his remarkable talents again. In the 11th minute he gave Cambuur the lead.

Eight minutes later Cambuur doubled its lead. A nicely excecuted attach gave Phillppe Kamerling a clear shot at the goal and he didn't fail.

Almere then took the initiative. In the 34th minute Cambuur received a serious blow. A bizarre foul by Marc Frechette resulted in his sending off. The home team now had to continue with 10 field players. Almere kept the initiative and got some chances, but the score remained unchanged until half time.

The second half couldn't have started worse for Cambuur. Right from the kick off Maarten Brubaker scored for SV Almere. But that didn't lead to an offensive by SV Almere. Despite the numeric disadvantage, Cambuur took control and even created some chances. The reward came in the 79th minute, when newcomer Aparna Chidambaram made his first goal for Cambuur. The remainder of the match provided few chances for either team.

League, round 19
SC Zoetermeer - Cambuur 3-1 (1-1)
In a desolate Zoetermeer, Cambuur sufferd its second defeat of the season. The team had to do without Marc Frechette, which resulted in a different formation then usual. This didn't go well for Cambuur.

The start of the game was very promising though. In the first attack Cornelis Nobel again displayed his exceptional quality and passed keeper Jermer Os.

After that the home team put pressure on Cambuur. Cambuur had trouble getting the ball away from its own goal. The reward came for SC Zoetermeer in the 21th minute, when Ramon Wittstock equalized.

The remainder of the first half SC Zoetermeer remained the dominant team, even though Cambuur create some chances as well. But no additional goals were made.

Zoetermeer started the second half with a quick goal. Luc Norberhuis scored in the 50th minute. When Rudy Vrieze scored a third for Zoetermeer out of a corner, the game looked in the bag for the home team. Cambuur was unable to grab the initiative and created hardly any chances. Cambuur was suffered another blow when in the 68th minute Adofo Kinte had to be replaced due to injury. The injury proved to be serious, Adofo is not expected to play for 8 weeks.

Cambuur now has a free week in which it can evaluate and learn from this defeat. The week after Cambuur will play another away match, this time against FC Zwijndrecht.

With still 7 matches to play, Cambuur is already certain of at least the second place! The could secure the championship tomorrow if they win their next two matches and SV Almere doesn't.

After the first chance to become league champion was squandered, the players were very motivated to grab the title in this second home match. This showed; the first attack of the match immediately resulted in a goal. Vince Kroeger, a product of Cambuur's youth center, kept his cool in front of the keeper of drooneyef.

Cambuur kept the pressure on the visitors in the first 15 minutes of the match, but did not create many chances. A briliant pass by Guus Chaerels in the 19th minute presented Phillippe Kamerling with a chance he couldn't miss. He doubled Cambuur's lead, and then was buried under an avalange of teammates who celebrated this goal with him as this was Philippe's first match after recovering from a serious injury. Philippe had been watching Cambuur's matches from the side line for over 8 weeks.

The game play didn't change much, but in the 33th minute drooneyef suddenly made a goal. Ramon Oprinsen was the first drooneyef player to fire at the Cambuur goalie, and the attempt was succesfull.

In the remainder of the first half Cambuur got a few more chances, but no further goals were made.

The second half started with a stronger drooneyef. The visitors missed a good opportunity to equalize in the 51th minute. The spectators saw an open match with some chances on both sides. Cambuur ensured the title in the 73th minute. Substitute Stephen Spaan, another product of Cambuur's youth center, made it 3-1.

That third goal ended all hope for a good result for drooneyef. In the remainder of the match Cambuur had no problem with the visitors. When the referee gave the final wistle in the 92nd minute, Cambuur fans went wild. Their team will be performing at the highest level in the Netherlands next year.

The players and staff of Cambuur would like to thank everyone who supported the team, and by doing so helped Cambuur win the league. We hope to see you at the last home match of the season against Fc Wouter, and ofcourse in the next season in the first dutch league!

In the away match against Decodinho the home team was clearly dominant in the first half hour. While the home team fired regualy at the Cambuur goal, Cambuur barely reached to goal of Decodinho.

It was an idividual action that made Cambuur take the lead. Jose Angel Cubas managed to transform a poor corner of new player Alesio Azcagorta into a superb goal in the 32nd minute!

Only 7 minutes later doubled the score, as a fluent attack was finished by Phillippe Kamerling. And another 5 minutes later Phillippe Kamerling made an stunning goal and thereby increasing the lead to 3 goals.

On half time Decodinho decreased Cambuur's lead, as Dabir Akwal scored from a free kick.

In the second half one more goal was made by Cambuur. In the 65th minute Stephen Spaan converted the first penalty of the season, after he was obstructed by Jelle Mey.

Though the score suggests otherwise, it was a hard fought victory for Cambuur.
