Invincible Delft 1-2 Feyenoord

Misery continues for Invincible. Defender Jacco Kupers scored for Invincible in the 43rd minute, giving Delft the lead at half-time. In the second half star player Sadami entered the field for Delft, but in spite of that they couldn't prevent the 1-1 in the 51st minute.

Delft kept believing they could win till the very end, creating lots of chances but converting none of them. It was Feyenoord who decided the match in their favor when their defender scored from a corner in the 86th minute.

Invincible Delft 2-0 Mathias IF

In a bad match from both sides, Delft got their much-needed victory. Delft has to thank Mathias IF though, if they had played a little better they would have blown away Delft who played far below average again.

In the first half, Mathias got 3 good chances, while Delft only got 1. Mathias IF didn't score though, while Klaever received the ball from Hoogteijling and scored the 1-0 for the home team.

Early in the second half, Berard converted the second chance for Delft as well, making the 2-0 from only the second real opportunity.

Mathias IF was never able to bring excitement back to this match. Delft could have just fallen back and wait for the final whistle, but it has to be said they showed spirit and kept on working to entertain the audience till the end. The fact that they hardly ever succeeded though has to make one wonder if Delft isn't about to drop even further down the ranking, despite picking up 3 points today.

Invincible Delft 3-0 SC Houtsnippers

The home fans finally saw a team they could proudly support today as Delft dominated the match and booked a solid 3-0 victory over rivals SC Houtsnippers from Krimpen.

The much critised team of manager Vincent de Boer needed only 3 minutes to open the score when a corner was given and Baudelaire scored with a perfectly placed header. Baudelaire was the 12th different player who made a goal for Delft this season. A remarkable statistic for a team that scored only 30 goals.

Delft dominated the first half, and when they were awarded a penalty in the 37th minute, Vincent de Boer didn't hesitate to put Delft on a safe 2-0 lead. This was the second penalty he converted, which puts the defender on 5 goals already.

The second half was more even, Delft was more concerned about keeping a clean sheet than that it felt the need to increase the score even further. Nevertheless, in the final minutes, newly bought forward Alex Berard boosted the match statistics with a third goal in this sunday morning match.

Invincible Delft 3-1 Alphen United

Delft made their intentions clear with a lightning start to the match. They won a corner in the first minute of the match, which was converted by young defender Hoogteijling (his second goal of the season). After the match continues, Delft needed only a minute or two to win a second corner, but Alphen came through the early offensive with "just" one conceded goal.

In the 17th minute, Delft had a major setback when young star Klaever fell out with a major injury. While colleague-forward Koudijs just started light training after a 10 week injury, Klaever now appears to be out for at least 6 weeks.

If Alphen could have gotten some hope out of Delft's misfortune this was soon lost when Hoogteijling scored his second goal this match, making the score 2-0.
Young keeper Tjerk van Male performed excellent, keeping his goal clean during the first half.

The second half showed a less eager Delft, with the 'safe' 2-0 on the scoreboard this can be forgiven. Especially since forward Alex Berard increased the margin to 3-0 in the 64th minute. Berard, who came to Delft in the winter transfer period, is quickly proving to be a good addition to the squad. This was already has 5th goal in his 9th match for Invincible.

Tjerk van Male, who played his first entire match for the main team, was unfortunately not rewarded for his solid performance. In the 66th minute, his inexperience showed when he misjudged a long shot from Jongbloed. Since the 3-1 was the last goal that would be scored in this match, it was of little significance though.

Delft extended its winning streak to 3 matches but they will face a tougher challenge next when they will visit VV Rijsoord.

VV Rijsoord 0-2 Invincible Delft

In a late-night match, Invincible Delft dominated again. Playing away against the strong side from Rijsoord, it was Delft who was attacking most of the time.

A 25th minute goal from Neerhout put Delft in a 0-1 lead. Delft failed to take more distance, in spite of having the chances to do it. Thoughts must have gone through their heads about all the times they lost after having the opening goal, but it didn't influence their game.

In the 88th minute, when the match was almost over and Rijsoord probably already felt beaten, Neerhout scored his second goal and increased the margin, securing the victory at 0-2.

With this result, Delft climbed to the 5th place in the league, their highest position this season.

MSV en AV Flakkee 1-0 Invincible Delft

Delft couldn't enjoy their victory long, only 8 hours later they had to be in Hellevoetsluis to play against the nr 16 in the league.

Whether it was fatigue, the traveling time or underestimating the opponent we don't know, but a fact is we saw a much weaker Delft than we saw against Rijsoord. While they dominated against Rijsoord, the match was evenly balanced against Flakkee.

At the end of the first half, Flakkee's top striker Zrnovic scored the 1-0 and that was about it. Neither side got any really good chances. Though they tried, Delft was unable to avoid a loss.

This ended their 4 match winning streak, but Delft can still be happy with 3 points in these last two matches. Delft will probably lose the 5th place now, but can hope to end around that place if they keep up their current level.

SC Noordoostpolder 0-1 Invincible Delft

Invincible Delft won his 6th away match today as they got a nervous 0-1 victory in the Noordoostpolder.

After a less than convincing first half of the season, Delft's top striker is finally scoring goals. Today he scored his 3rd goal in the last 3 matches and secured the victory for Delft.

French veteran midfielder Sadami was voted man of the match after an excellent performance, but credit for this victory must also be attributed to young defender Fersyeur who replaced Holbein in the center of the defense in this match. In spite of his age he played an almost perfect match, stopping many attacks from the home team before they could become really dangerous.

Delft has little time for celebration as they already are preparing for the match against the popular club from Dokkum tomorrow.

Invincible Delft 2-0 SC Dokkum

In a close encounter with fellow admin Tiety, Delft proved to be the more lucky side.

For a long time, the match looked like it was going to end in a 0-0 draw. Both sides got some chances, but none too promising. Dokkum perhaps even had more right to expect a win, but in the 77th minute it was Delft who, from a quick counter, opened the score. Koudijs scored his first goal for Delft after a long period of injuries.

Dokkum wasn't ready to give up the fight though, fiercely attacking Delft's defenses, trying to level the match in the little time that remained. In the 84th minute however Delft secured the victory when Kupers scored the 2-0 from a corner. This was already the 4th goal of the tall defender.

Dokkum didn't manager to score in the remainder of the match, in spite of having a few good chances so the match ended in a 2-0 victory for Delft, a score that doesn't reflect the true balance of power in this encounter but that was very welcome to the revived Delft side.

After a strong series of results, Delft is now settling itself in the subtop of the dutch league. A top 3 position is out of sight for this season, but at least they give out a signal that they are not to be underestimated and can compete for Champions League football next season.

vv Sleen 1-2 Invincible Delft

Invincible had a dept to settle with vv Sleen that had previously surprisingly beaten Delft at home. Delft chose this match to introduce their new star forward, Andre Dost. Officials of the club expressed they have high expectations of this still relatively young player. They are very enthousiastic about his future, even stating that with this new addition Delft may just close the gap there still is with the top of the dutch league.

Delft had gotten a quick lead when de Boer converted an early corner to goal. The same defender got two more chances to further increase the score but narrowly missed on both occasions.

When Sleen forward Coerten then leveled the match at 1-1 it was a serious blow to the engaged Delft side. Having 13 chances against only 2 for Sleen, the tied score at half-time didn't seem to accurately reflect the balance in this match, but that didn't mean Delft would be able to win the match in the second half.

The second half turned out to be less eventful, with only a few more chances for Delft and just one for Sleen it might have ended in a draw, but Andre Dost showed his value to the team when de Boer gave him a chance he couldn't miss. With his goal, Andre Dost secured victory for Delft in his debut match, leaving the few Delft fans that were present extactic!

Invincible will now face the real test when league leaders Lost Keys will be visiting Delft. Invincible is on a high, winning 7 of their last 8 matches, but how will they do against the absolute top?

Invincible Delft 4-1 Lost Keys United

Invincible had one of those lucky days when everything they touched turned to gold. While the Delft fans did hope Invincible could get a good result against the strong team from Leiden, no one would have predicted the 4-0 score at half-time.

Delft started furiously at the match. This resulted in a few corners for Delft. Already in the 14th minute Fersyeur made use of confusion in the defense and scored the 1-0. Knowing that one goal would not be enough against one of the easiest-scoring teams in the dutch league, Delft showed no signs of slowing down after this goal, resulting in an almost identical goal 3 minutes later. Fersyeur had scored only once before this season, but now signed for the 2-0 as well.

It took Lost Keys United some time to recover from this early blow as Delft kept getting chance after chance. When Delft was given a free kick, the excelling young midfielder Boerdijk scored his first goal of the season and set the score to 3-0.

If that wasn't enough misery for the team that a lot of people consider to be the main title candidate this season, De Boer made it clear that Delft would win today by scoring the 4-0 in the 34th minute of the match.

As a result, Lost Keys got to half-time being 4 goals down. Surely not even Lost Keys could come back from such a position.

They did play better in the second half, though they could have received more goals. Delft seemed to have lost a bit of their focus in the second half.

Even after defensive midfielder Blauss of Lost Keys was sent off with his second yellow card, Delft failed to increase the margin. In the final minutes Anatoli Karpov softened the defeat for Lost Keys by setting the score to 4-1.

FC Beawulf now has a chance to take a lead in the title race, but with several tough matches ahead it's far from decided yet, though it's already clear for some time that FC Beawulf and Lost Keys are the only remaining title candidates. After their excellent results lately, Delft may start looking at the third spot, but even that will be tough.

Almere city fc 2-0 Invincible Delft

After their great victory against Lost Keys, Delft has been put firmly in it's place by Almere city. They learned that even if you play well you still lose if you don't use the chances you get.

Almere caught Delft by surprise when they scored the opening goal in the 6th minute. Even though they were aware of the danger Almere striker Van Saun would cause they couldn't stop him from putting Almere in an early lead.

This seemed to have a paralysing effect on the team, they had plenty of opportunities to level the match but were horribly sloppy when facing the goal.

After the opening offensive, Almere hardly became dangerous. When their defensive midfielder was sent off with a red card and their best midfielder fell out injured it seemed that all they could do was defend and hope for the best. Delft kept missing all their chances though. When time was running out, the cunning Almere side made use of Delft's low spirits and lapse of concentration and scored their second goal in overtime setting the final score to 2-0.

Delft now has to regain their confidence before the home matches against VV AP and FC Beawulf.

I only just found the forum of this competition. It's fun to read your nicely written stories Vincent, they make the game come even more to life :) You didn't mention your talented new player though, a point seems all I can hope for in our match this thursday!

It'll be a thrilling end to this first season at the top places of the leaderboard, that's for sure.

Invincible Delft 3-1 VV AP

Every point is important now for Delft, even though the third place is out of sight the difference between the number 4 and 11 was only 3 points before this match. In this home match against one of the direct rivals, Delft recovered very well from their off-day against Almere.

The first goal of the match fell already in the 13th minute. Young, hardworking midfielder Hornsveld advanced with the ball and where everyone expected him to pass to Dost or Koudijs he tried it himself and scored his first goal of the season!

It wasn't to be an easy match for Delft though, as VV AP leveled the match shortly before half-time. VV AP deserved this goal since they had fiercely attacked the Delft goal for 45 minutes. This sure gave Delft something to think about.

In the second half, they finally did manage to take advantage of the poor defensive quality of their opponent. In the 61st minute, Andre Dost scored the 2-1. The talented new forward still has trouble to adapt to the team, but after his second goal fans are optimistic that he'll soon become very important for the team.

With Milton in the goal instead of Van Male, the defense looked a lot more solid in the second half. Delft's 2-1 lead was hardly threatened until in De Boer ended all possible doubts in the 86th minute when he scored the 3-1. The defender had lingered after a corner situation and received a near-perfect assist from Backer to score his 8th goal of the season!

Hornsveld became the 16th invincible player with a goal in the league this season. An amazing number that shows how well Delft is performing as a team. No other team in the league comes even close to it. On the other hand, one could also say they lack a good forward, since defender Vincent de Boer is now topscorer of the team with "only" 8 goals.
