Why game not count assist from corners?

Yes, I raised up the question before but never got an official say..

Yes, there was the official word by Vincent, he said if someone shows the football ruile where corners are assists it will be changed.
Such a rule doesn't exist.
One question: what is going to change if corners are assists or not? It looks like an absolutely useless discussion for me.

Same reason we count assists at all, or goals for that matter.
