besides that, the limit of 23-man roster also makes me uncomfortable (although it really doesn't need more players)

23 men are mostly more than enough, it's difficult to give 20 games to every of them if you are not much stronger than half of teams in your league- board will stop you having too many weaker players in lineup. That's why I didn't want to struggle with young team in League 1, but avoided promotion. Ofcourse it will depend on number of league matches- with 16 teams 30 matches it's probably impossible. There is always reserve too when you have u21 team with some rotation.

This season I had a total of 49 players who played in at least one first team game. Last season it was 47.

So I'm always moving players between the two squads. I can live with the  23 man restriction but it does create extra unnecessary effort.

In comparison @Balthazor only used a total of 18 players and the previous season it was 17.

Besides which @Balthazor's team currently has a total of 30 players, which is 16 players short of the maximum, so only a handful in the reserves. If you have a full squad then you need to do a lot more rotation to try and maximise the match xp for most of the squad.
