Season 58 (51)

And another season begins...

It's been a frustrating off-season so far at the Beach. I was hoping to move on a number of players from the club in an effort to appease the accountant, the bank manager and Vinny the loan shark. Whenever I see him, Vinny keeps twirling a baseball bat in a slightly scary fashion.

But it turns out that no one wants to buy about of them. Rumours abound as to why. Are the prices too high? Have the players been covered in sand and no one can see them? Do they even exist at all? Time will tell. (Though for my kneecaps' sake, I hope someone bids soon.)

Selling at a decent price is an issue - that level 5 YA is going to bankrupt me. Having a rethink as my original way of funding things doesn't look like its going to work - need to generate around 100M a year in sales...

In what has been described as one of the dullest Super Cup matches of all time, Seaburn Beach and Jaypridee Town bored each other senseless. It turned out that some of Jaypridee Town's were actually asleep during the penalty shootout which would account for their inability to score from 12 yards.

Seaburn's new signing Mishaxhi scored before saving two penalties. Addo scored the other proving only that at least two players were not asleep. 6 separate penalties were missed in the shootout. Rumours are circulating that Seaburn's manager spent the post-match trophy presentation placing an online order for both an alarm clock and a barn door.

That was magnificently dull football at its finest. The most interesting thing my team did was replace an injured right back with a reserve goalkeeper.

Well not quite sure how my season will go this time. So far two expected away defeats against two top teams. A straight forward home win against a team near the bottom. One dissapointing 3-3 home draw after being 3-1 up but that was followed up with a very surprising away win against Melchester who currently sit 2nd and were 4 wins from 4 before i turned up. Where it goes from here is anyone's guess :).

Good luck everyone.

Five games in and someone finally scored a goal against the mighty Beach. The absolute cheek of it.

Addo looks like he's keen on breaking the record for top goal scorer in the league that he jointly holds with Otimi from season 30. 23 goals from 9 matches so far, meaning he's rattling along at more than 2.5 goals a game.

Speaking in a press conference at a recent Cameroon game, he said that the  sound of prawn sandwiches being munched by the Seaburn Beach faithful was spurring him on to greater things. Following some mild outrage on social media, he subsequently stated he had been misquoted. He clarified he had said the sandwiches were beef and mustard flavour.

Today's numbing defeat has made my mind up - I'll be selling most of my aging players in the next window and beginning a major overhaul, so will finish the season with a number of kids in the starting 11.

Relegation will be the result but that's fine as I need to spend a couple of seasons focusing on the youth, and hopefully discovering some future stars.

Good luck with the rebuild! It's hard revitalising your squad, but hopefully you can find a way to improve your team and get up the table.

Thanks Stephen, and I appreciate you offering me a £300M interest-free loan to kickstart my rebuild!

Are you still okay with me taking a couple of players on multi-year loans?

Of course, no problem. You can just skip straight over the small print on the loan deals. Just standard boiler plate. Nothing there of any importance at all.

I think the Canvey Island players should be tested for performance enhancing drugs......something isn't right about their league position.

Shh. I think Jaypridee just stole a point off Seaburn Beach. I don't think Stephen's noticed yet. He's going to be furious when he finds out! Shh, don't tell anyone.

"Naa, naa, naa, na-na-na-naaaaaaa, na-na-na-naaaaaaa, Addo!"

Seaburn Beach's away support enthusiastically got behind the scorer of today's goal scorer in the crucial clash at Melchester. The goal turned out to be the winner. Addo has now reacted to his goal drought (of one game) by scoring 5 in the two subsequent matches.

Pictures have begun to emerge of Melchester chairman Roy Race giving Addo a one fingered salute following the goal. A Melchester statement on the matter is still awaited.

I hope it's only a coincidence but it does seem suspicious that the transfer of my new defender was not approved in time for today's game against Seaburn, as I'm sure he would have prevented at least 1 of the 8 goals we conceded. :)

Was Stephen complicit in this transfer delay??
