It's totally meaningless but I find it quite amusing that we have just moved past Sjoerd's team in the popularity rankings. He'd been playing for nearly 6 years when we started.

Depends on your likely attendances @pii. And also the size of the remaining bank balance after upgrading.

If you want to have a forum search I looked at the detail of this in a thread a long while ago before starting mine.  

There are 2 aspects to consider, the loss of interest that you mention and also the higher maintenance costs. From memory you need to average 120,000 just to break even on the extra maintenance costs. After that you're in profit but will need a lot more than the 120,000 to account for the loss of interest. 

If your balance falls to near zero after paying the construction costs then you'll obviously need much better attendances than if your balance is a lot higher. You'll also lose a lot of interest during the 2 seasons that it takes to build.

As far as I can recall I think I waited until my balance was near $1.5 billion before pressing the build button in order to mitigate some of the lost interest.

I just had a quick look at your club and league. Based on your current popularity you should get around 140,000 attendance from 5 clubs and 175,000 from the other 4, an average of around 155,000. That will also increase during the 2-3 seasons it takes to build the stadium.

Plus the fact you have Office 8 so your loss of interest won't be as great as if you had Office 10. 

So in your circumstances I would be inclined to start building asap.

And yes, I would consider switching from 2 fan shop staff to double catering. Your popularity is now at a decent level and the extra catering income should be worth more than the faster popularity growth you would get from the fan shop. It'll obviously take longer to fill the stadium but you'd have much higher income in the meantime.
