Matches and strategy: Match plans

Match plans will give bonuses and penalties to your players. Most match plans will give a defensive or offensive bonus depending on the match score.

A defensive mindset means that your players will get a bonus on blocking and dueling and a penalty on passing and scoring.

An offensive mindset means that your players will get a bonus on passing and scoring and a penalty on blocking and dueling.

Default

In the default match plan no bonuses or penalties are applied.

Play to win

Orders your players to try to win the match, even if that means a risk to lose.

Your players get an offensive mindset when the match is tied or when your team is behind, play neutral when your team is one goal ahead and will have a defensive mindset if your team is 2 or more goals ahead.

The bonus will start small and continually increase during the match. The closer you get to the final whistle the larger the effect of this match plan.

Settle for a draw

Use this when you would rather accept a draw than try to win.

Your players will play defensively when the match is tied or when you are ahead. When your team is behind you will play with the offensive mindset.

Like with "play to win" the bonus starts low and increases towards the end of the match.

Minimize defeat

Use this for matches where you do not expect to get a good result.

The team will always play defensively, even when the team is behind. The defensive bonus is the same all through the match.

Go for a big win

Go all out and take the most risks in order to get the biggest amount of goals you can get.

The team will play offensively from the start and will continue to do so regardless of the score. The offensive bonus is the same all through the match.

Counter attack

Order your defense to rely more on blocking shots than on tackling.

This plan gives a penalty to passing and dueling and a bonus to scoring and blocking. It also gives a small bonus to speed.

Go for a quick lead

Try to catch the opponent by surprise and get an early goal. This can be used to try to break a defensive team playing for a draw.

Your team will start with the maximum bonus on both offense and defense, but this will decrease during the match and turn into a penalty on both offense and defense later. There is also a small increase in fatigue when you choose this match plan.

For the first 10 minutes of each half your players will get a positive bonus. After the 20th minute of each half this turns into an increasing penalty. The highest bonus is given in the 1st and 46th minute. The highest penalty (40% of the highest bonus) in the 45th and 90th minute. During extra time the penalty remains constant.
